Hot Take KFree plan

That's what I was thinking, too. There are plenty of other "suites" there making those decisions, and maybe Eugene is now more of a figure head there?
Eugene cares more about the final figures, the free products have very little involvement in the final figures.
What is wrong with? Is every single member of MT is happy and approving deprection of K free?
I approve the decision because a lot of people never actually thought of supporting Kaspersky by purchasing a license.
If you like what a business is doing, you should support them. This is my personal opinion.

I think You don't understand my post, what I mean is what @Jonny Quest said, I do not think E.K. is dedicated to making decisions of this type in Kaspersky nowadays, now he is dedicated to traveling around the world, visiting technology fairs, promoting the company, etc.
I know; the same applies to Bill; he is not the CEO, but I refer to him when mocking MS.

There is always still the anti ransomware tool

There is always still the anti ransomware tool
Tried it beside Avast free, and Windows crashed.

The users that decide that they wanna purchase a license, and because Avast is now part of Gen Digital which is a dual listed public company, investors and shareholders?

Many other companies reduced or eliminated the number of freebies they offer.
As a user from a thrid-world country, do not expect my cheer for deprecating a free software or service, and you have the whole right to approve, and I have the same right to disapprove, regardless of the vendor annual revenue figures.

Again off-topic talking even about other AVs in this thread what should be only dedicated to Kaspersky Free, for how many times that happens again 🙄
Fetching similar examples is to clarify the point of view, and there is not intention to off-topic moves.

I told you for several times what is the point even in personal conversation. You can further ranting, your comments will be removed if you prefer to continue that way,
and who is right or not really doesn't matter in such cases...

MT threads are full of off-topic posts which never have been remarked by the respectful moderators; being selective in doing a certain task is not the best way to do it.

I told the same even to other forum users, but you are simply disagree and that is okay.

"respectful moderators" if doing nothing that will never change something what is not optimal for a forum community.

EDIT: I am just trying to make people more mindful for a better structure in forum threads for as much topics as possible.

Kaspersky free again gone? Just wait year or two and they come with another free product:rolleyes:

I dont have any data or idea how big was kaspersky frees userbase, for me you needed to be bit of tech savvy to choose kaspersky free over other plans. So companies like gen digital are much bigger compared to kaspersky frees userbase

I dont think kaspersky will lose anything discontinueing kaspersky free, they for sure know what theyre doing anyways

Just my opinion, dont hate me but if you can afford for computer + pay for internet connection you probably can pay 4€ for a key for kaspersky a year if youre user that wants to support them / use their products

I knew Kaspersky would discontinue the free version. K Free was a smart move to fight spying allegations and controversies. Kaspersky is a top-tier vendor. The US ban and the free version discontinuation don't affect K.

"The green-skinned K is the Hulk of cybersecurity... Kaspersky Smash!" 😊

Download link for the Russian version of K free is still available

I did register again earlier. Still free for 365 days

You can register again in case you can see a divorce with MD. Better to have backup registration
Tried to create a new account days ago; no option to download K free; it is over, just as Sophos free, only old accounts can work.
Actually I was using K free for fun; it does not offer me extra protection than MD; not using pirated stuff.

@Parkinsond
I used VPN during registration, installation and activation to activate Kaspersky Free.
Latvia, Estonia or Lithuania are safe bet. Russia and Belarus works too, but your data is handled by Kaspersky Russia.

By the end of 2019, Kaspersky Lab will have established a data center in Zurich, and this facility will store and process all information for users in Europe, North America, Singapore, Australia, Japan, and South Korea, with more countries to follow.

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are EU countries.

Dear all,
Kaspersky Free was discontinued because since 2019, strategy is to offer another kind of protection, not just AV.
More details: What happened to Kaspersky Free antivirus ?
You go around the forum and sound like Kaspersky employee (not to say like the Kaspersky owner). You did not introduce yourself anywhere and we got no idea who you are.
Nevertheless, ask your managers for more up-to-date information.

The very same article (the one you are linking) was published years ago when Kaspersky Free was replaced with Kaspersky Security Cloud Free. We’ve seen this article and we are aware of the “Adaptive Cloud Security Posture”.

Today, both Kaspersky Free and Security Cloud Free are unavailable.

The links in the article you posted named “free antivirus” now lead to “free antivirus trial”. With large letters emphasising that this is a trial download for 30 days.

The article is hence not very useful and the suspension of the free products is not related to “offering another kind of protection that is not just AV”. Just be honest and say it’s related to your revenues.

In 2024 you finished the year with record revenues, 11% up on sales, >820 mln USD, despite exit in the US. Now this year you’re chasing the same target + the annual inflation (minimum). So to reach your target, you are hoping that some of the freeloaders will be converted to bookings (purchases if you don’t know what it means).
From now I will tell you that first:
You will not reach this target this year because you’ve got huge losses both in B2B and B2C markets and second, no, freeloaders are not magically going to start paying. They will just freeload something else.
