fwiw, I use mostly calc.ods and overall LO has been error-free for me and stable. not sure I would call check_for_updates an error, but see your point. I don't use Vivaldi.

I used Windows until January 2020 and Kubuntu since then, so I cannot tell for sure, but to my knowledge, the Check for Updates option in LibreOffice on Windows does not always notify of the availability of a newer version right away. Like with some other software applications, such as VLC media player, for instance, there is some form of staged or phased release rollout, if I'm not mistaken.
