Solved Lightspark player and other unwanted popups

Yippee!! Doing the happy dance all around house :-D I restored the router to factory settings, restarted my laptop and no more annoying popups. I would really like to know how resetting the router fixed that. I would never in a million years have thought that it had anything to do with anything other than wifi. You can claim you virtual beer at the bar as soon as I get there ;-)

Well I'll be bamboozled!! I spoke too soon :( Attached is a screenshot of one of the myriad of popups that I've been getting while on FB. You can still enjoy the beer at the virtual bar though ;)

Thanks :)

This warning is ok. You're visiting probably harmful page that could steal your passwords, and your browser blocks it. There is nothing wrong here :)

About your router, please read this topic if you're interested to find out.

If everything is good now, we can finish :)

Thx for the link about the router. I'll read it tonight.

Everything is not good :( I am still getting the Lightspark popup. I'll make screenshots today of all the different popups I get and send them to you. I always get the Lightspark, so I won't send that one again. Thanks for your continuing help.

Oh, forgot ... The only website that I visit that gives the popups is Facebook. No other webpage has ever given me a popup. Only Facebook. Thx.

OMG! Now I'm getting porn popups :( The attached screenshot was actually a video that started playing on its own and I could see no way to stop it other than to close the page. The other popups weren't so bad, but I will NOT allow porn on my laptop. I got this popup when I clicked in the box to enter my password on Facebook. I hadn't even signed into FB yet! Help, please??

Okay, gladly. Unfortunately, I can't do it right now so it'll need to wait until this evening. I'll send you the report. Thx.

I'm attaching a couple more screenshots. Sorry about the 2-screen thing. I have 2 monitors and don't know how to do a screenshot of just one of them. After I post this message, I'll run the scan again.

I tried IE browser just now and it did not happen. I do not have Firefox installed. It is still happening in Chrome while on Facebook. I've attached a screenshot of today's newest popup.

I remember reading something about the extensions in Chrome. I only have two, AdBlock and a News Ticker Remover that stops all the ads from showing on Facebook page. I've attached a screenshot. I'm more than willing to remove that News Ticker Remover if you think it has anything to do with this problem. Since I really like Chrome and am so used to it, I would prefer to not have to switch browsers at this point if there is any way to avoid it.

So far, so good :) I'm running a bit late this morning and don't have all the time I would like to test to see if it's truly fixed. Could we please leave this topic open for another day or two? That News Ticker Remover has worked for so long and worked so well, I wonder why all of a sudden it seems to be what was causing the popups? Very strange indeed .... I'll get back to you tonight after I've had time to explore this a bit longer. Thx :)

Well, removing that silly News Ticker Remover extension from Google appears to have worked! No more popups or unwanted stuff. Yay :D Thank you again for your patience and all your help. I couldn't have done it without you. I'll be sure to recommend malwaretips.com to all my friends. Have a great day!
