A patch was released for WAR. In the patchnotes:

• WAR now blocks all Malware, this includes viruses, trojans, worms, rats and of course ransomware and zero-day threats.

I would like to see how the program handles malware other then ransom ware.

Pretty easy. Install one of Bitdefender paid products and disable the signatures, leaving active threat control enabled
