New Update Malwarebytes only includes rootkit scanning in it's custom scan settings.

Got this today during an update what does everyone else think was it a good change or not?

Didn't Malwarebytes always have a rootkit scan option, but it was turned off by default?

At least they offer it in a Custom scan, so no, I'm not to concerned about it.

To be honest i always enable it in settings but maybe now i wont...

It's just wasting resources, few WIn 7/XP boxes anymore. Anyway I choose KVRT instead of MBAM & HMP. But I do miss MBAM web filter, probably was and is their best product.

And Bitdefender doesn't even mention rootkit in their scan logs, for both Quick Scans and System scans. Even the Custom scan is without that named option. But, their manual says it does by default. It's probably bundled in with the threat category.

In two decades of using PCs, I learned one thing—never to rely on default options. If there's an option to customize something, use it; not necessarily for changing, just to see what it offers! Using express option when installing software and getting random bullshit installed along does this to a human.

Same applies to security software. God knows what they mean and what settings they use for full scan. I'm always using custom scan option; that way I'm absolutely sure entire PC will be scanned.
