You can get the update right away by clicking "Check for updates" in Settings > General. Or, it will be automatically installed if you have automatic updates enabled.

Features and improvements

• Dashboard icon refresh
• Added Protection settings option to enable or disable Advanced script and fileless protection
• Revised startup user flow to provide a more comprehensive scan experience for new users
• Support for improved “What’s new” announcements

Issues fixed

Known issues
We are actively investigating and working with Microsoft on performance issues related to the Windows 2024 Update (Windows 11 version 24H2). Users may experience a delay in startup when launching Office applications including Word and Excel.

Known issues
Windows 11 version 24H2 compatibility

• Users may experience a delay in startup when launching Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Reader, or when printing from Chrome browser. Fix currently targeted for November 14 2024 release.
• Monitoring for unsecured Wi-Fi connections may trigger the Windows Location Access prompt to appear (example: Malwarebytes version 5.2.1.144 needs permission to use signals like GPS or Wi-Fi, which can be used to determine your precise location). Note: Malwarebytes does not access your device’s location. This notification is triggered because Malwarebytes uses Windows provided methods for the purpose of determining whether your Wi-Fi connection is to a secure - or insecure - access point. Fix currently targeted for November 14 2024 release.

Desktop Security for Mac 5.8 was released on 25 November 2024.

Features and improvements​

• All notifications now show in the Notifications tab in the status menu dashboard. See this article for more information on using the status menu dashboard.
• Notifications settings can now be customized to allow users control over special offers and campaigns.
• All existing users who are eligible for a free trial will now see the “Claim 14-day free trial” icon in the left navigation bar.
