App Review McAfee: how bad is the worst antivirus?

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

When I exit K, it is non-existent; only occupying storage space.
Ok, I understand. Beforehand, you need to uncheck the box so that it doesn't load at startup. Then click on exit in the system tray. K has that advantage. So you installed AVG and it didn't recognize K as being installed? Because McAfee didn't say a word before or after installation, when it should have asked to uninstall K, and even K took a while to identify incompatible software, but then it notified me that I should remove McAfee WebAdvisor, which is a curious name for an extension from McAfee
The only conflict I had when installed free k antiransomware tool beside Avast free, inspite of being promoted as safe to use beside any other AV.
I understand that when you have K installed, you don't need Anti-Ransomware because it uses KSN to check the reputation of the file before it is executed. In this case, if the file is listed in KSN as safe, it will be allowed to run on your machine. If it is malicious, it will be blocked, as in the case of ransomware, to prevent your files from being encrypted.

Almost a couple of decades ago, installed B beside Norton on my Celeron PC, and it was such a pain 🥲
Well, the B that you installed alongside Norton wasn't going to work anyway, as the two are literally incompatible. Perhaps if it had been another antivirus program, it might have worked alongside Norton. :)

The "old" Norton was already heavy; they were working together, but PC was the one who stopped working 🥲
This solution was for the nasty era of relying on pendrives for transferring work stuff; currently we exchange files using Whatsapp; pendrive is a history.

I don’t agree. The old Norton was a dream. It was snappy, the UI was a testament and a reference. It did the job. Alerts and everything was nice and compact. Anyway, no point drooling over the past. Norton is gone.

Norton many years (25 maybe less) ago totally lost their way totally with updates to the updater that was broken beyond repair & it became such a mess I vowed never to use it again, then a few years ago they redeemed themselves & it was decent, now I fear they lost any allegiance from me again?

One or two have mentioned Mcafee having prompts to upgrade after its been on a while, has anyone had this & is it very intrusive?? As for me so far its OK ??

The prompt is for Trend Micro. Trend Micro is the one asking for a restart to install update. The updates are usually every 2-3 months.

Old AVs including Norton and K were heavy compared to the available PC specs; currently they are more optimized, keeping in consideration the added modules compared to the more bareboned structure of the old versions.

The most precise description of Norton timeline.

When I abandoned Norton I discovered the original F-Prot for Windows (Icelandic as I remember) which I used some time, the interface was simple & a delight to use,
I remember using F-Prot too, you're also one of the old-timers at @Sorrento. Exactly, it disappeared from the map, but I don't remember how effective it was at the time. If I go through my stuff, I might still have it on CD.

The first time to know its name.
My timeline of used AVs was Norton, K (for a short time), Avast, Symantec AV (not SEP, was not created yet), B, SEP, Avira, TM, AVG, MB (as a second scanner).

Norman was ready to cater to all security needs.
