Exactly. Is that why you started this thread?

But if that's true, due to the volume of the BD database updates, was there a lot of writing to the SSD? My goodness, if that's true, it's terrible news for the BD developers. And you were an active member of the BD forum; I saw you searching there a few years ago.Thread 'Bitdefender SSD writes' Advice Request - Bitdefender SSD writes
I will be playing with McAfee for a while and who knows, maybe updating here.@Parkinsond I installed McAfee on side K just to see what would happen, that's what I was going to tell you. There's always some crazy person on forums, isn't there? lol
Almost a couple of decades ago, installed B beside Norton on my Celeron PC, and it was such a pain@Parkinsond I installed McAfee on side K just to see what would happen, that's what I was going to tell you. There's always some crazy person on forums, isn't there? lol
I also liked McAfee, but it wasn't because of @Shadowra's test that I'm using it; I got the license before that. But I'm going to keep only McAfee, and I'll keep K on my laptop.I will be playing with McAfee for a while and who knows, maybe updating here.
K has a very nice feature, you can turn it off and keep it as a second opinion scanner beside any other 3rd party AV.I also liked McAfee, but it wasn't because of @Shadowra's test that I'm using it; I got the license before that. But I'm going to keep only McAfee, and I'll keep K on my laptop.
At one time I was a Mod there (B), and will never use it again. Seen too much and heard to many excuses on that forum of issues unresolved, request denied, and making users the Beta testers. Too many times they would fix one thing and break another. Too many processes, to much RAM. Spend a week or two there on the forum, then on Kaspersky and Eset, and compare the differences of the better engineered and more stable AV's. The most frequent issue Eset has, is getting the product registered.Exactly.
B, generously, provides me extra justification if not trying it again by FPs beside its usual glitches.
Personally I will keep cycling among K, AVG, and MD.
B offers a very good protection, but its engine need to be reengineered. At one time I was a Mod there, and will never use it again. And I mentioned that there, too. They need to take what they do know, and "start over" from the base app up, IMO. And even though F-Secure is a sad state of affairs at the moment, and whatever is going on in the background between them and Avira (Gen Digital) at least it may be a new start for them regardless of some of the current growing pains?B offers a very good protection, but its engine need to be reengineered.
Kaspersky got passive mode too same as AVG?K has a very nice feature, you can turn it off and keep it as a second opinion scanner beside any other 3rd party AV.
Passive mode keeps the AV processes running in task manager; exit removes everything and is more safe.Kaspersky got passive mode too same as AVG?
If they have that one switch the better as turning things off manually is time consuming especially those real time detection, firewall etc is a must to avoid conflict.
In fact, it is not possible to use two antivirus programs at the same time, because sooner or later there will be some kind of conflict.Almost a couple of decades ago, installed B beside Norton on my Celeron PC, and it was such a pain![]()
Agree having it off is the safest way to avoid conflict..Passive mode keeps the AV processes running in task manager; exit removes everything and is more safe.
When I exit K, it is non-existent; only occupying storage space. In fact, it is not possible to use two antivirus programs at the same time, because sooner or later there will be some kind of conflict.
one more tip, before starting on-deman scan by MD, turn off real time protection of the main AV to avoid slowing down MD scan.@Trident I was looking at the MD history here, and even though McAfee didn't detect it the first time, MD removed the backdoor to quarantine the first time I did a custom scan, as you can see in the screenshot.
That's why I recommend to all Windows users, regardless of which antivirus you are using. Always keep this option checked Periodic scanning.
Side by side is not recommended; only one AV with real time protection, and when using the other one for on demand scan, first turn off real time protection of the main AV, or you will get two AV engines scanning simultaneously.Agree having it off is the safest way to avoid conflict..
If user wants it to work side by side with other AV, go passive mode.
If user just wants a Secondary On Demand scanner, having it off fully is the ideal way.
