So would you recommend to use McAfee? For example instead of Windows Defender? To be honest the bad reputation of the company from the past held me back to use it.
Absolutely. Since I bought it, I haven't encountered any problems and it works reliably. I accept Shadowra's tests, I consider them credible, and based on them, I consider it to be strong protection. Plus, Trident has also tested it and their results confirm this.So would you recommend to use McAfee? For example instead of Windows Defender? In general settings there is a setting that says “wait till my PC is idle to start scheduled tasks”, maybe try unticking that?I am testing McAfee using the 30 days trial. It is quite good. But the scheduled scan does not start at all.
I went through this article: McAfee support
But it did not help!
Have you evere encountered this issue? Is it a bug?
I tried that but still does not work. Should I see some indicator somewhere about the status of scheduled scan?In general settings there is a setting that says “wait till my PC is idle to start scheduled tasks”, maybe try unticking that?
The only indicator is the McAfee tray icon which displays a small moving circle.I tried that but still does not work. Should I see some indicator somewhere about the status of scheduled scan?
I tried it again. But nothing happens when scheduled scan time comes. It also does not work an an other notebook with fresh installed Windows. The only indicator is the McAfee tray icon which displays a small moving circle.
Thanks for your test @Shadowra. I'll definitely try McAfee after few days, because it's your recommendation.McAfee is an antivirus I'd recommend.
Not out of the box per se. However, if you have the extension's URL, you can install itOne more question. Does McAfee support Brave browser? I am asking this because there are some AVs which don't. For example AVG (based on customer support).
Thank you for your kind help!![]()
Thank you! Now it is clear. Not out of the box per se. However, if you have the extension's URL, you can install it
As far as I know, the web protection works only through the browser plugin. When the plugin is not installed, phishing URLs and similar threats will not be blocked.
Fun fact: when I tested it, it also worked in incognito mode, even though the plugin itself was "not allowed in incognito." Therefore, I believe it somehow binds to the browser process itself.
