His morals have nothing to do with releasing the software for free but rather how he treats his employees and people that disagree with him or point out deficiencies in his product.

That's it and nothing more. In the end software doesn't have feelings so it doesn't care about the morals of the code writer. It's how the code writer interacts with the customer and how they receive constrictive criticism.
Have you ever read, especially here in the forum, the amount of derision heaped upon him as a person? Just a side note.

I wouldn't hesitate to use Bitdefender, AVAST or even Kaspersky (perhaps) instead of Comodo.

I've been using Comodo for at least 10 years before this video was posted, so times were probably much different back then.

But why Comodo? Not out of habit or nostalgia, but because:

If Comodo is as bad as it's often portrayed, why on earth have I been spared all the dangers of the internet for at least 20 years? Why on earth was and is all my sensitive data, and that of others, seemingly protected behind thick walls? Why did I never have problems with all these worms, rootkits, viruses, Trojans, etc., that are all lurking around in the cyber world?

My trust in Comodo's protection has been well-founded up to this very second.

I hope that Comodo continues to withstand cyberattacks as it has until this very second (i.e. last CVE) . Being attacked even once would be disastrous and would lead to a massive breach of trust, not just for me, of course. I'm using both Cruel Sisters' settings and my own custom configuration. Apparently, I've done everything right. This wall has even withstood potential bombings by the SEDs I've found so far.

Trident:
Comodo is just like the food from the red cross.
It is better than nothing but far from amazing.
This is what you get when your work is based on charity type of modal.
I appreciate your knowledge now, but not everyone is or needs to be an IT professional. This is nonsense, though; In my case, no one would have been able to eat this, thanks to Comodo. Comodo is a wall, not what you're trying to portray as funny. I'm a user, you're not, just a critic—not so great either!

This forum also often contributed to my strong doubts about Comodo and my consideration of switching. But there are also statements from other IT professionals who unconsciously confirmed my experiences and, with their suggestions, further strengthened the security wall. And you can't compete with that with your little picture and other barrage of criticism, however fundamental it may be.

Again:
I have never been bothered by any successful attacks. Until the moment I type this last letter.

@Helmut there are millions of people in India that are happy with Protegent (if the brand exists then someone is paying), there are millions of business devices running Panda/WatchGuard and there were a modest 50-60 millions of people happy with the previous versions of McAfee, despite awkward interface, questionable protection and renewal price hikes.

Many of their customers will tell you the same—they did not experience successful attacks.

There are many people that won’t ditch Trend Micro despite poor product support lately and there are those that won’t uninstall F-Secure, regardless of the fact that it is now a 95% Avira copy glued to a UI that isn’t too much better than what Avira offers.

Then there are those that would not touch/have touched any of these products.

Your favourite product will always be subjected to criticism and won’t be liked by everyone. You can argue a £350 LVMH perfume is amazing but then there would be those that wouldn’t love it.

Just get over it and move on.

Sometimes I wonder if everything is okay with you?

Why bring up a video from 15 years ago, when it was a different digital era?

What did you want to ask by posting this topic?

What is the question?

I see a lot of topics like this from you as a user of this forum, which don't really contribute much to the discussion.

Can someone explain to me what's going on with Comodo and Melih that user @bazang keeps bringing up these topics? Anyone? 🤔

There are likely a number of loyal Webroot users who swear they've never suffered even the slightest harm from malware. I don't doubt that you could browse the web unscathed this way, but that does nothing to improve my estimation of the software or company.

Whether or not we personally choose to make use of certain software, there will always be criticisms of it circulating. Given enough evidence, I think that it's reasonable to still admit to weaknesses in the software or its publisher. You shouldn't take it too personally. I don't believe that I use anything that's totally perfect.

@Trident @Miravi

Finally, your posts I can agree with. Of course, anything can be criticized, or rather, weaknesses can be pointed out, but that's anything but bashing or portraying Comodo as useless and "utter garbage," which is exactly what's been happening here. It's not about personal attacks, which is always assumed, or nostalgia, etc. Naturally, others have good experiences with their software too. But I've never read such unqualified and nasty comments about any other software as I have about Comodo. And if it has protected me from attacks, what's wrong with me writing the opposite and defending Comodo? There's nothing wrong with that either. I have nothing against disclosing potential weaknesses, but that's different from the truly unqualified comments some people have made here.

And if I have such good experiences with Comodo, then that's perfectly acceptable. And as I've already written: I'm part of a team of at least 10 people with all these PCs and laptops running all versions of Windows. Always protected by comodo.

It's because of the attitude of Comodo owners and developers that bring on the hate, it's not made up from hot air. MS gets and deserves the same hate, and they get it too!

And this is a discussion forum where we discuss of all things....cyber security  We are not writing the Bible, Magna Carta or Quran. It's not that deep!

No one is abusing people for using Comodo, in the end people will use what they want. We just gather here to talk some #####, waste some time and have a few laughs.

Correction: Translation incorrect! I don't work in a team, I am the team, the multiple person, who has owned x PCs, Laptops with all Windows versions. Immer comodo installed.

1. Where have I gloated about Melih?
2. What evidence do you have that suggests that "Bazang loves Melih"?
3. How could you reasonably reach any such conclusions?

Nothing I have ever posted anywhere shows that I support or promote Melih and his ideology.

What I have stated are statements of fact. Those statements have been neutral and objective. As far the Comodo products, I have often criticized them.

I have also repeated many times that I don't care about Melih, Comodo, and fanbois and fangirlz of Comodo here. All I am interested in is what Melih is legally required and obligated to do with respect to his freemium software. His ownership and offering of a freeware product obligates him to do nothing. That is not a defense of what is legally required. I don't care about any arguments that Melih has either "An ethical or moral obligation to fix bugs and reported vulns."

How anyone could arrive at such an interpretation of Melih and what he said in the video is bizarre.

Of course Melih is going to say things in a way that promote his own products. However, nothing that he states in that vlog promotion video crosses the line. Furthermore, he is an anti-AV industry activist. I don't care about his ideology nor whether was he does is "right" or "wrong." I am only interested in what he must legally do under any applicable statutes or regulations.
You protest too much.

Love is a many splendored thing🥰

Protest what?

What and whom do I love?

I am the type of person who literally means what they type. I don't do propaganda nor fake news.

You must be talking about cruelsister.

Sometimes I wonder if everything is okay with you?
Perfectly fine. Doing wonderful. Living my best life.

Why bring up a video from 15 years ago, when it was a different digital era?
Melih's words still apply today.

Your own independent test results of Comodo still prove what he said then is still 100% correct.

The fact that something is 15, 150, or 2,500 years old does not matter. Age does not make things irrelevant.

Newton published his Laws of Motion in 1687 and they remain bone-hard fact to this moment.

What did you want to ask by posting this topic?

What is the question?
I did not want to ask anything by posting the video.

How you would think anyone wants to ask anything by posting something makes no sense.

It contributes a lot.

My advice to you is to go to the multitude of Comodo threads here at MT and read every single post within the thread. Perhaps you will understand why.

Best regards to you.
