The issue has been fixed after disabling the DBSC flag. @Sunqfu made me aware of the flag. He enabled it manually, which caused the issue in his case.
Edge keeps freezing since yesterday, it's so annoying. I was hoping update today would fix it, but it didn't.
Have faced suttuer of both Edge and Brave a couple of weeks ago.
Luckily, everything is fine for me.

I noticed that with the latest update, Microsoft Edge’s size dropped from about 3.25 GB to almost 2 GB. But it doesn’t seem like they changed how they handle old installs. From what I understand, Microsoft keeps the old versions around for two reasons: one, so you can quickly roll back if something goes wrong with the new update, and two, because Edge WebView might still need the older version to keep working smoothly.
Is not Chrome keeping old versions too?
I haven't used Google Chrome for a while, but since both Brave and Vivaldi follow Chrome's update process, I noticed that after upgrading to a new release, both browsers keep a 7z archive file. When I researched this file, I found that it contains the new version's installation files and is not needed after the update completes. However, the file remains on the system anyway.

The GitHub issue #25873 that called it "unneeded and unwanted" was filed by a user who only checked whether the browser runs without it (it does), but didn't account for the delta-update and uninstaller use cases. The issue was effectively closed as working as intended.
So: it's intentional, it's how the Chromium updater is designed, and it will keep reappearing with every update. Deleting it is safe for day-to-day use but degrades the update mechanism and can break a clean uninstall.
Yes, chrome.7z will reappear after the next update. Each new version of Brave gets its own versioned folder and the installer drops a fresh chrome.7z into it every time an update runs.
The file isn't just leftover junk — the Chromium/Brave updater uses it for two purposes:
Delta (incremental) updates — the courgette patching algorithm diffs the new version against the previous chrome.7z to download only the changes rather than the full ~300 MB installer. Without it, the next update falls back to a full download.
Proper uninstallation — the uninstaller references the Installer directory; removing it can cause the uninstall to leave behind orphaned files.
So if you delete it after an update, the next update will simply create a new one in the new version's folder. You're free to delete it (the browser keeps working fine), but it will come back, and you'll lose the smaller delta-update benefit until it's regenerated.
