Troubleshoot my UPS was screaming. turning it off & on did not stop it.

Briefly explain your current issue(s)
my UPS was screaming.
Steps taken to resolve, but have been unsuccessful
turning it off & on did not stop it. i unplugged it and plugged it back in later. it now seems fine. the light is green. before it was blinking red and green.

A quick Google search tells me that it's time to replace the battery:
Check battery and charging voltages. APC says 90% of faults are a dead battery. My experience also

my PC KEPT turning off and on. i replaced my UPS WITH A SURGE PROTECTOR AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED. I ORDERED A NEW ups FROM AMAZON.

sorry about the caps.

will the turning on and off of my PC damage my operating system?

A Surge protector mainly prevents high voltages spikes from damaging your PC. .

Most UPS or good UPS will have builtin AVR function that works better than a surge protector has it can increase voltage if its low and decrease it if its too high even if
the battery is flat.

If the PC is randomly turning itself on and off when the UPS is connected then its not advisable to have it connected, that can cause some OS issues maybe even HDD Failure.
