Nikos' Config

i visit warez and crack sites so my risk level is high.

and in that case if you are just having a single line of defense you need get ready to get infected...in case of d+ u may not get infected...but in case you meet ransom.xorist[new varient] then you may fall in trouble..as D+ is vulnerable to these threats in v5...

remember,in other cases,just running a AV you will probably stumble some new nasty on those illegal sites...i have norton DNS on level 3 to block porns and illegal sites and i also run cfw and d+ [not in my sig]

avast fw runs along with other fw's

Hmm..

When was the last time you were infected with some malicious software? Or last known infection.

Have you used Sandboxie, or another virtualisation program?

i have a lot of time to get infected but i formated reccently. no i nver used sandboxie i though it is buitl in in CFW isnt it?

CFW has a sandbox but you need to set it p in the Defense+ settings. Sandboxie is not in the CFW, it is a separate program that has a Full or Free version. It is like the CFW's sandbox except on demand.

Thank you.

Also i want your opinion oif CFW with D+ and HMP as an on demand scanner and Comodo dragon brwser wioth ABP an noscript and WO iks anough to protect me.

i dont like realtime av scans.

If your risk of infection is high, I would strongly suggest a real time AV as I mentioned before. Earth and I for example have been AVless for some time but our browsing habits are different. Me for example there are only a couple of sites I visit daily. Rest is online gaming via a client so risk of infection is extremely low.

CFW with D+ will give you a decent protection. Comodo Dragon with ABP and noscript should also be fine but are you using the COMODO DNS?

Yes iam also using comodo secure dns servers and i wanmted to ask you should i continue to use them or change them to opendns servers

which is better?

some prefer comodo to opendns. Others prefer Norton DNS. I personally did not tested opendns. I did go through my share of DNS and still switch between Norton and my ISP one via DNS Jumper

Norton DNS is better than comodo's? Can i use it although i dont have installed some norton app?

they are similar, i tested both and didn't see much difference. you can test both even you don't use any comodo or norton products

unfortunately I highly doubt you can use Norton and Comodo DNS at the same time. On Languy's test it didnt seem to work.

in same time, NO but you can set one of them as primary DNS and the other as secondary one, so when one fails the other take the relay.

thanks.

If we only have CFW plus Defense+ will we get infected ifwe try to visit a malware infected site?

How much ram does your pc have and what kind of cpu?
I have older desktops and CIS nor EAM slows them down

RAM => 3 GB DDR2

CPU => Intel Core 2 Duo T7500

I try to avoid real time scanners because somehow -although not quite sure- i beleive Defense+ along with Comodo Dragon (ADP + NoScript + WOT) ans Comodo SecureDns Servers will protect me.

Please enlight me since so many days now i cant decide what i really need.

CIS runs great on my laptop 3 gb ram dual core should do the same on your PC

Also if the use of an Antivirus is absolutely necessay would liek to ask if instead of using comodo av i should run EMET 3.

Please comment on those questions.

Earth and Jack please comment to i wanna hear from you too to make a final decision.
