After cleaning up malware and viruses with Panda, Bitdefender, and Malwarebytes, I can't connect to the internet (I'm posting from another computer). I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 10 so if I can just get online, it's all good. It's currently on 64bit Win 7.

I've attached the FRST files.

Thanks.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.

Just about the same as before. When it first starts up or wakes up, it'll show it has wireless and maybe connect for moment (I've managed to get Google up briefly a couple of times), and after a minute or so, the notification icon will say will get an exclamation point. I tried it with the LAN and the same deal.

When I ran Windows Network Diagnostics a couple of times I got 'The default gateway is not available' and then 'The DNS server isn't responding'. No other devices in the house are having trouble (this computer is on the LAN and I'd been using my phone on the wifi)

I don't know what infection you removed, so I can you attach all malwarebytes scan logs, so I can see what has been removed.

The Malwarebyte logs don't have any infections listed, maybe because I deleted the stuff in quarantine? I think at this point I'm either going to take it to somebody or finish backing it up and reinstall Win 7 and see if that fixes it so I can upgrade to 10. Thanks for all your help; I'll be throwing some money in your tip jar.

Once again we shall use FRST for additional checks. Re-run FRST/FRST64 by double-clicking:
  • Copy afd.sys into the Search: field in FRST then click the Search Files button.
  • FRST will search your computer for files and when finished it will produce a log Search.txt in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please attach it to your reply.

Well, no more than I already have. When it first happened, right before I was going on a trip, I had a guy come out and had to pay him 50 bucks to do stuff I had already done and less competently. (He didn't know you could get Malwarebytes' rules off their website and insisted that if he kept trying he could get online since the taskbar showed we were connected! And told me that malware wouldn't destroy my connection - my internet adapter must have failed and I should buy one that went into a usb port. But the timing seemed waaay too coincidental and ten seconds of searching proved him wrong)

World is full of such incompetent people that think they know everything, and the ones that sometimes deserve a bit more light, luck and attention are the real experts and competent technicians.

I know Windows Firewall hasn't worked since I got the computer. I think Lenovo has its own.
