I use HiBit, and when I uninstalled the new version, Norton’s “built in uninstaller” took over. Very slow uninstall. Rebooted after the uninstall and HiBit restarted and I was able to scan for leftovers. 300 or so leftover ”files”. Wasn’t too bad. ✌️

Question. I recently reinstalled Norton on my PC. I have a 360 Premium subscription. Do they provide an uninstall tool or is just removing it from the control panel sufficient? Thanks.
Never use Windows Uninstaller for Norton or other tools; use only their dedicated separate tool called Norton 360 Remover tool. Choose the (Remove Only) option.

Norton scans are slower in the new version no file insight to skip trusted files. however this seems to be an alpha version much to be added still i think.

It seems to me that Sonar, File Insight, etc. are Symantec's property and nothing that Avast doesn't have will appear in Norton. In fact, we can look at Avast One and Avast Beta to understand what awaits us in the end.

Some of them are Symantec property, some of them are Norton’s. When Gary Hendrix was abruptly terminated due to disappointing performance, Steve Bennet took over and split the company in 4 parts. One of them was Veritas, which was almost instantly sold. The other one was the identity business (VeriSign) which as sell was sold to Thoma Bravo and merged with DigiCert. Third one was Symantec Business security and the 4th division was Norton.

Norton was a separate entity operating under the Symantec legal umbrella way before the acquisition and as such, has their own patents.

Broadcom holds 1700 out 2400 patents. There was an agreement for both parties to use the patents, but it looks like Norton wants to stop sharing. A lot of these patents are worthless without the Symantec technology and vice versa as it is one connected platform. Both parties can rework the platform. Norton can use patents to improve Avast.

Avast uses a cache system. Try to do a full scan at least once and you should see improvements...

I have done so i dont know what they are scanning but a clean install of windows and it's scanning 463,000 files what are they scanning lol?
They count the contents of every uncompressed archive. There are a lot of those even in a clean Windows install.

There are 2 types of Norton Uninstallers.
For V22 Norton 360: Download Link: Norton Remove and Reinstall (NRnR)
Note: Go to Advanced options for remove only option.
For the New V24 Norton 360: Download Link: Norton 360 Removel tool
The new Norton 360 Remover tool does not work for V22, so use a specific remover tool for each of them.

Hi.
I have changed from Avast Ultimate to Norton 360 v. 24
Differences in day-to-day operation;
1. no banking protection in Norton, no ability to block programs from running outside the whitelist, no (I can't find) scanning of confidential files/data;
2. better/more clear interface in Norton;
3. VPN running in one interface with antivirus in Norton; in Avast antivirus/VPN are separate applications;
4. Norton has more features: darknet data verification is included in the licence (in Avast additionally paid and as a separate app); password manager working very well also on smartphone;
5. Norton has its own browser plug-in, Avast a separate one; but both use the same web protection :)
6. backup option still available in Norton;
7. Avast's and Norton's additional optimisation programs are more expensive than CCleaner (presumably -on which they work);
8. Norton now has a better VPN relative to v.22.

In my opinion - The new Norton works very well; it doesn't load the computer very much, is easier to use than Avast and also has more features.
