here i have the same issue
I removed it after having this issue, it was not the only issue I faced.
I encountered such an error twice today and realized that it is linked to the file named netio.sys. As you said, it's probably sourced with the avast engine.
Do you use AdGuard for windows with Norton 360 in the same time? I had this error before, and I was using AdGuard for windows with AVG Internet Security.

Adguard with norton probably has same conflicts than avast/avg has...doesnt work with them anymore

They are literally one product with different skins right now but Norton 360 have more bugs than Avast/AVG, it is not complete yet to be released.
I believe the current release is a controlled beta. That's why officially it's been released for very few people. But if the update freeze is on AVG as well it means Avast hasn't updated as well... which is strange considering they release up to 8 updates in a day, not counting the streaming updates.

I'm using Norton 24 in 5 machines with Adguard and never had any problem. That's why I say you should always test before buying whenever possible.
Im not norton user myself, i was referring to avg/avast that doesnt work with adguard properly anymore, i was thinking the new rebranded norton with avast engine was copy of avast/avg so i was guessing they share the same problem but im un-aware if the case is this as i havent used norton..

its good to trial before buying indeed, i learned that with the zonealarm, gladly they had the 30 day money back thing 😅

Sometimes you need to do something (depending on user habits) to trigger the issue, for me, I noticed that opening a bookmarks folder contains about 10 links in the same time will trigger the netio.sys BSOD. I was using AdGuard for windows with AVG Internet Security.

Yes.

The same situation with AVG.

Signatures haven't been updated since 02/08. Anyone else with this problem?
Looking at the signatures folder in my Avast Free VM which I last opened and updated in August 03 before tonight, it seems August 2 is the date when their main definition folder which contains the full signatures was updated the last time.
The name of the current version folder is, "24080204" where 24 probably means the current year, 08 is probably the current month and 02 should be the date when it was released. Not sure what 04 refers to. So, August 2, 2024.
Since then, it's been only streaming updates. If I'm not wrong, I think they usually update their main definition folder once/twice per day. When it's released, all the streaming updates on your device which has now become part of the main signatures are removed and new streaming updates for the day starts downloading.
For whatever reason, the method of combining streaming updates to the main definition hasn't happened since the 2nd of August. Maybe it's a bug that they are working on, or they have decided that it's not useful to update the whole database folder daily. The streaming updates are tiny.
This is the size at the moment of all streaming signatures combined since August 2:

@Trident pointed out a few days ago in this or another thread that last month an Avast patent has been granted that enables them to reduce the size of their signatures. This case could be or could be not related:
Check if your Norton 24 folder has these streaming signatures files. If yes, everything should be okay.
On Avast it's located at: "C:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast\defs"

Also, Avast UI accurately shows current date and time for signatures:
