Under heavy demand, we compare 2 versions of Norton.
The 1st, v23 with its own engine, and v24, which uses the Avast engine.



Since this is a comparison, I won't give my usual rating.
Nevertheless, I give my summary:

On Norton v23, no change, Norton still offers its high-performance shields (SONAR, anti-malware engine, Machine Learning, etc.).
Its Web filtering is very good, but doesn't always alert you when it blocks a malicious download.
However, it is always average on Powershell scripts, KVRT detects 1 infection in memory...

v24 completely transforms Norton. It abandons its modules to copy those of Avast (IDP, Avast anti-malware engine, Avast Web blocker, etc.).
However, it remains highly effective, as it also leaves 10 malware files behind like v23, but not the same files!
But the machine is left totally clean, with no malware detected.

Thanks for the detailed comparison. It's interesting to see the transformation from v23 to v24, with Norton adopting Avast's modules. Both versions seem to have their strengths and weaknesses.

New is not always better

It depends. Even if Norton has had an excellent reputation and is becoming an Avast clone (like AVG), it still retains its brand reputation. To be seen in the future, but in terms of detection, I've got nothing to say about it.

Avast is often criticized for making relatively greedy UIs, even if this is mastered on Norton v24 .
The v23 is very light, but can consume a lot of CPU in the event of a task.
Eset remains very light.

Well I'm always impressed with your videos.

I had a license for Norton that I had picked up cheap from Best Buy. I have a clean install (Image) so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I was surprised to get my very first "Blue Screen" upon restart after the install of Norton 360 Standard. I haven't had a bluescreen since maybe Windows XP.

I have been playing around with different AV's and IS's for the last 2 months using this same clean install image. So I gather it was Norton.

I'm using AVG IS right now on same image, no problems.

Just thought I'd pass on the info.

cobaltstrike and metasploit are ESET's achilles heal.

that cobalt strike test was done on eset v11 I guess? this was interesting I thought with v11 they might have some improvements with this kind of malware

The latest version.
I've seen that there's a v18, to see if that will improve protection against unknown malware.

Buy one for yourself. This is not a begging forum.

I wouldn't recommend it either after my experience above, but can you explain what you mean by "It's Norvast".
