REMOVED:

Macrium Reflect Free

TinyWall

ADDED: Aomei Backupper Free

Switched from Macrium Free to Aomei Free. I think this will work better for me.

Edit: I forgot the TinyWall bit. I had some evidence/experience that it is not fully functional when attempting a soft install. I had to say good-bye to my old friend. :emoji_disappointed:

What's better in Aomei?

It’s UI is more streamlined. I believe it’s a bit more suited to my technical skill level. We shall see. Aomei makes a W10 version of Onekey, which originally came installed on my laptop. That one was for W7 only, and I uninstalled it.

Removed: Sophos Home Free

Returned to: Windows Defender

Sophos Free is improved but still bloated, because the disabled Premium features remain installed and using some resources. The result is I'm back to WD and my reliable setup. Hard to beat built-in goodness! :) MS does some things right. I also added some inadvertently missing info to my configuration.

Simple but very effective!

Dropped and trashed my last laptop. This is my initial setup for my replacement laptop as described above. This is a work in progress until I'm ready to upgrade to Windows 10. I'll wait at least until 1903 is out for awhile and the dust has settled.

Looks tight to me.
What was damaged in your laptop after its fatal fall -- was it a HDD?

Yes. HDD. It dropped off a side table, upside down and would try to boot but wouldn't + black screen!

Brave browser

I added Brave because it has some features I prefer over Chrome, and OneKey recovery because it is simply the easiest to use.

I'm enjoying W7 while I have it!
