Since I don't rely on active/real-time protection that much, I'd like to have a bunch of scanners just in case I want to scan a thumb drive/a file or something. I currently use hitmanpro, what are some other ones?
Spybot? surely you jest. It has poor detection & is getting obsolete IMO. I have used it recently & its very slow at scanning & in the past it has never caught anything. Avast caught the Bad stuff & not Spybot JMO.Portable:
-Norman Malware Cleaner
-Emsisoft Emergency Kit
-Spybot Search and Destroy
-Dr.Web Cure It!
-Requires installation:
-Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Oops sorry.. typo error.Dr.Web, not Dr.Webroot.
I agree, but what do you use as a replacement?Your right I think in that it detects spyware/adware. I also used it years ago when it did a fine job at detecting this stuff. It has now went downhill IMO.
VirusTotal Windows Uploader don't need any virus total account, less hassleI use and recommend ESET
Another useful tool is VT Hash Check, http://malwaretips.com/threads/vt-hash-check.10478/
(You need a VirusTotal account for your API Key).
