New Update Opera Stable Update Thread

Hi, Dear Opera Users!

We’ve just promoted Opera 135 to Stable! Here’s what’s new: a Chromium bump, a big round of stability and performance work, and a few user-facing improvements.

Key highlights

  • Updated Chromium to 151.0.7922.138
  • Big round of crash and stability fixes across the browser
  • Fixed MV2 extensions being blocked on every browser startup
  • Fixed sessions being lost on browser restart
  • Reduced overall browser lag and improved performance during panel resize
  • Themes no longer freeze when the browser window loses focus
  • Fixed auto Picture-in-Picture shrinking every time it was triggered until it reached the smallest size
  • Added drag-and-drop for creating tab islands, with a smooth animation and a new “New tab in tab island” button
  • Theme Gallery now adjusts to your monitor size
  • Enabled Web Audio direct AAC decoding by default
  • Fixed the “Make Opera Yours” widget showing to existing users after they’d completed onboarding

Key highlights

  • Updated Chromium to 151.0.7922.170
  • Round of crash fixes across OAuth token storage, vertical tabs drag, the crash notification page, and Picture-in-Picture on macOS
  • Fixed Force dark mode on pages resetting after changing theme or mode
  • Fixed hovering over links in the second window not showing the URL preview
  • Fixed top sites being hardly visible on the Start Page

We’ve rolled out a new Opera Stable release – version: 135.0.5973.76

We fixed a crash in the sounds manager when closing tabs and resolved playback issues on pluto.tv. We also corrected the split screen position changing after switching from vertical to horizontal tab

We’ve rolled out a new Opera Stable release (version: 135.0.5973.123) with a new tab order preference for vertical tabs, and a round of stability and UI fixes.

Key highlights

  • Backported the fix for CVE-2026-87491

  • Added support for the chrome.sidePanel API: extensions can now render their own side panels, complete with a top bar
  • Fixed traffic lights not reacting to hover on macOS 26
  • Fixed bookmarks bar disappearing after exiting full screen
  • Fixed crashes in tab media list refresh, tab collection move logic, and Vertical Tabs-related crashes on macOS
  • Fixed close button not being visible in collapsed tabs after clicking it
  • Fixed a stray single-tab island being created when opening split-screen links, and fixed dragging a split-screen tab into a tab island
  • Fixed WhatsApp panel not opening with its shortcut
  • Fixed the search-copy popup appearing in random places
