I have been using Windows 10 since it came out in July of last year but I decided to install Windows 7 yesterday.
For some reason the OS started acting weird.. A process called "System and compressed memory"? started using 25%+ CPU which made the computer unusable. Even after a re-install it was there.
that process will become a nuisance only in extreme situations, but most of the time you won't notice it.
It cuts down on memory use by compressing the stuff that is not immediately needed by the system. that frees up more RAM for you. If you just did something major on your computer, it goes into action a little too vigourously.

Anyone have any suggestions on what real-time protection I can add? My Bitdefender license is good for 336 days. It can be paid products, but I wouldn't want it to cost too much.
if you have BD and NVT ERP, you are locked down. You don't need extra protection. Just make sure you know how to configure NVT ERP, you can get help on this forum.
The only other paranoid thing you could potentially add is to run your browser sandboxed. Sandboxie might not work with BD. Maybe Cybernetic Shade will work for you. you can try.

We might not be talking about the same process then. It literally made my PC unusable. Cursor would lag like my monitor was 5hz. Watching youtube/playing games was laggy too.

Anyone know what the recommended way to configure EXE Radar Pro? Even if I whitelist the process or command-line it still asks me every time I start it. I probably have to accept 15 different things at boot.

I think you need to conduct like something Learning mode on EXE Radar Pro, since the lock down mode will definitely block when the rules are not included.

Needless to say, some experience users here may provide quick custom rules.

i can guess one process starting at boot change everytime, so obviously ERP will flag it ; can you copy here the command line?

Let me give you an example. My VPN starts at boot. ERP asks me if I want to allow it or not, I have tried adding the process AND the command-line to the whitelist. No matter what I do it still asks every time the program runs.

That was expected:

The culprit is Cmd.exe, it is ran every time; it is a vulnerable process so you will always get alert from it.

Your only choice is to remove it from the vulnerable process list. but then you will sacrifice some security.

Make the process trying to run Cmd.exe into a whitelisted "parent process". This will give it the right to run Cmd.exe. I do this a lot.

Your config is so close to mine
I am just using Nightly & Vivaldi. I love Windscribe ;)
and instead of KeePass I am using LastPass. More friendly way to keep passwords.

Nightly is the beta version of Firefox, right? Does all add-ons work on it?
I don't use LastPass because of security reasons, I don't know what I would do if someone got access to all my passwords/accounts.

Nightly is the very early version of Firefox. It is too buggy and laggy browser.
Mozilla have 4 channel for the desktop browser.
Nightly : First stage of every release cycle, on this version Mozilla always adds new things. "Daily Multiple Updates" (Now it is v51)
Firefox Developer : This version is the bugfix version of new features and includes developer tools for devs. "Every 2-3 days Updates" (Now, it is v50)
Firefox Beta : This version includes all bugfixes and they are checking the browser for stability. "Weekly Updates" (Now it is v49)
Firefox : It is the stable, secure and well known version for the browser. (Now it is v48)

On Nightly, some of the add-ons maybe do not work properly. It is not the suggested version for home-users.
If you love new features to test, Install Developer version it is better for home use. ;)
