After forum members showed disbelief that the hack was real, the threat actor claimed he was behind the recent cyberattack on Uber and leaked screenshots of source code from both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto 6 as further proof.

Rockstar games have not released a statement or responded to our email about the attack at this time. However, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier confirmed the leak was valid after speaking to sources at Rockstar.

Should be interesting to see whether it's confirmed the same hacker involved in the Uber incident is involved in this one. Eighteen years old, wow.

Small update: this hacker is reportedly engaged in extortion viz Rockstar Games for the GTA6 source code/additional stolen data. He does not intend to sell it at the moment. He is in the process of selling his other acquisition: GTA5 source code. More to come, stay tuned.

Rockstar confirms its systems were hacked, says GTA 6 development won't be affected

Rockstar Games has put out an official statement regarding a substantial network intrusion it suffered recently, which had culminated in a hacker gaining access to the studio's confidential information and early footage of the next Grand Theft Auto game.

"We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way," said Rockstar regarding the leak. "Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we will remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations."

Thankfully, it sounds like the breach hasn't hampered the studio's development processes much, as it also said, "at this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects."

Great to know and hopefully, they won't try to change too much of what was leaked as a reaction. They should continue the development process in a normal fashion.

Another update: Uber now believes its hack was conducted by Lapsus$. Previously, one hacker was claiming both firms.

The Rockstar Games hacker goes by the moniker "NotLapsus$" aka "Teapot" who is also claiming the Uber breach. So who is it now? Will have to keep up with the news to find out.

The City of London police announced on Twitter today the arrest of a British 17-year-old teen suspected of being involved in recent cyberattacks.

It seems this is the same teenager arrested back in March for hacking Microsoft, Samsung and a couple of others. it's been prev. reported this hacker is on the autism spectrum and may be worth as much as 14 million USD.

He faces four charges, two of which involve "breach of bail conditions."

Brazil arrests suspect believed to be a Lapsus$ gang member

Today, the Brazilian Federal Police arrested a Brazilian suspect in the city of Feira de Santana, Bahia, believed to be part of the Lapsus$ extortion gang.

Today, the Brazilian Federal Police arrested a Brazilian suspect in Feira de Santana, Bahia, believed to be part of the Lapsus$ extortion gang.


The suspect was detained following an investigation started in December 2021 after last year's breach of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

During the incident, the attackers deleted files and defaced the Ministry of Health website to display a message where the Lapsus$ hacking group claimed the attack and said it had stolen data from the ministry's network.

The City of London Police also arrested seven individuals from the UK in late March under suspicions that they were connected with the Lapsus$ gang.

Two of them were charged on April 2nd with helping the Lapsus$ extortion gang. They were both released on bail after appearing in the Highbury Corner Magistrates Court.

The Lapsus$ gang has made the news this year after attacking high-profile tech companies worldwide, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Samsung, Ubisoft, Okta, telecom company Vodafone, and e-commerce giant Mercado.
