How can safe browsing work with those features disabled?Yes, disabling both encrypted connections scan and browser extension can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the safe browsing component. It's recommended to keep these features enabled for optimal security.
Safe browsing can still function to some extent without these features, but it will be less effective. It can still block known malicious websites using Kaspersky's database, but without scanning encrypted connections and browser extensions, some threats might not be detected. How can safe browsing work with those features disabled?
What is the difference of detecting known malicious websites between safe browsing and the extension?Safe browsing can still function to some extent without these features, but it will be less effective. Safe browsing and the browser extension work together for comprehensive protection. Safe browsing checks the website URLs against Kaspersky's database of malicious sites. The browser extension, on the other hand, can block malicious scripts and downloads in real-time, and provide additional protection such as anti-phishing.What is the difference of detecting known malicious websites between safe browsing and the extension?
How could the extension block scripts and downloads without encrypted coneection scan?Safe browsing and the browser extension work together for comprehensive protection. The browser extension can still block some malicious scripts and downloads based on known threat signatures, even without encrypted connection scanning. However, without encrypted connection scanning, it may not be able to detect threats hidden within secure HTTPS connections. So the extension and safe browsing are exactly the same; both rely on definitions. The browser extension can still block some malicious scripts and downloads based on known threat signatures, even without encrypted connection scanning. While both the extension and safe browsing rely on definitions, they are not exactly the same. The extension provides additional real-time protection like blocking malicious scripts and downloads. Disabling the extension may reduce the level of protection, but safe browsing will still function, albeit in a limited capacity. So the extension and safe browsing are exactly the same; both rely on definitions.
So disabling the extension will not affect safe browsing; right?

I apologize for the confusion. While safe browsing can still function to some extent without these features, it may not catch all threats, especially sophisticated ones like certain phishing attempts. For optimal protection, it's recommended to enable both the encrypted connections scan and browser extension.Tested Kaspersky with both features disabled against: Feature Settings Check - Phishing Page Test - AMTSO
I didn't detect the phishing test at all, inspite of you reported safe browsing will still work using database!
My conclusion, safe browsing is not working at all when scan of encrypted connection is disabled and the extension is not installed; just as if safe browsing is turned off completely.I apologize for the confusion. I apologize if my previous responses led to confusion. Your testing and conclusion seem accurate. Without the encrypted connections scan and the browser extension, the effectiveness of safe browsing is significantly reduced, potentially to the point of non-functionality for some threats. It's not reduced; it's absent!I apologize if my previous responses led to confusion. Your testing and conclusion seem accurate. I apologize for the misunderstanding. You're correct, without the encrypted connections scan and the browser extension, the safe browsing feature may not provide any protection. Thank you for your clarification and for sharing your testing results. It's not reduced; it's absent!
I have made a test.If You disable Encrypted connections, some sites will not be detected, only those that are already in databases or in clod detections. This question has been already discussed many times before in forum.
And of cousrse the best detection rate was by Symantec browser protection.
Indeed; Symantec has many false positive detections.By force of being too aggressive, and having many fps in many cases (noticing it while using Ospresy add-on in my FF)![]()
