SE-Labs Endpoint Security (EPS): Home 2023 Q1

Disclaimer
  1. This test shows how an antivirus behaves with certain threats, in a specific environment and under certain conditions.
We encourage you to compare these results with others and take informed decisions on what security products to use.
Before buying an antivirus you should consider factors such as price, ease of use, compatibility, and support. Installing a free trial version allows an antivirus to be tested in everyday use before purchase.

I disagree with point 1.
Myth #1: Anti-virus slows your computer.
Any software adds impact to a Windows PC, particularly applications
that run all the time. It was once true that anti-virus slowed down
PCs but, for the last 10 years, anti-virus has been optimised to
make minimal impact. Modern PCs are much faster than they
used to be too.
In my experience Antivirus software sill can cause very noticeable slowdowns, particularly if you have a low end CPU.

They wish !

Avast , Kaspersky, Eset, F-Secure, Deep Instinct, Emisoft, GDATA are way better options for AntiMalware/Virus
The comment wasn't that Microsoft Defender was better than these, it was that it has the largest user base. Which is probably accurate.

All the super-cloudy antiviruses, Defender included can handle just files up to certain size. Enclosing file in password-protected archive after it has been padded in accordance with Mitre T1027.001 merrily evades all and the detection can drop from 100% to 0%.

Avast, Kaspersky, Norton, Bitdefender and Sophos (through intercept X) have the benefit of both the cloud and powerful local engines.
