New Update The new cloud-based McAfee

Was just pondering, Mcafee is so fast, and why. Well, If it turns off defender and windows firewall, and Mcafee handles everything in the cloud, then this would mean the speed is attributed to it not being installed, and turning off MS own security

Every security software that is not a second opinion scanner will turn off Windows Defender and most will turn off the firewall as well and use its own, that's not the reason it's light. Also it is installed and has local signatures but it's heavily cloud based.

Windows itself, automatically disables Defender when another antivirus is installed. Being cloud based, means that detections mostly come from the cloud, rather than from local signatures, however it still has realtime protection components installed which use resources.

The key to its lightness is that it scans at the execution stage, not on access. It scans only the exe files you download from the Internet. This on-execution thing makes nearly every other security product lighter, too! You can set, for example, Eset Kaspersky, etc., to scan just on execution and see how light they become.
