AG doesn't need VS.
VS afaik doesn't need AG, if it does, no point of using VS then.

Especially when you are using Shadow Defender.

I have the paid version and have not noticed any issues with insider builds. I think it is easy to use.

When I install some new software that has to reboot, I set Appguard to allow installs and still have VS to monitor the file. Yes I know it is overkill but it works for me.

How large is the USB drive you are using to take images of your disk (must be a pretty large one I should think ?). Is the weekly image automatiacally scheduled and does the USB remain in your PC ? I'm asking because I am always looking out for ideas.

The USB stick is 256 gig
I run the full system image manually after each insider update.
I never leave the USB stick connected to my PC after creating an image.
