Hey! I know that a lot of people have this problem, but I think mine is kind of... unique? I haven't seen anything like this in me extensive research.

So, it started a couple of years ago on my old computer. I started having problems that turned out weren't related to Trovi, but in trying to fix the issue I found the Trovi PUP itself. The more I tried to remove the Trovi, the worse the computer got because of the other PUP/virus.

So, I moved to another computer, downloaded Chrome and signed into Chrome. Because, you know, all of my bookmarks are there and they are very important to me and my hobbies. Well, the Trovi Pup hit that computer. A quick run of Hitman Pro and deleting the corrupted files fixed that. No problem.

However, that was an old computer, so I got a new one. I bet you can guess where this is going. I downloaded Chrome, signed in, same problem. So, I did the same thing as my last computer and that fixed it. Run Hitman every month to make sure all's good, and everything's fine.

However, Chrome updated and part of these updates allow Trovi to take control back. Unfortunately. Because every time I start up Chrome, I have to sign back on, and the issues pursue.

I reset my Chrome settings and removed Trovi from my search list which fixed the issue with Web Data, but I can't get it off of my secure preferences, and there's something ultimately on Chrome that's causing this. I have a really bad feelings is one of the Chrome Apps that I downloaded when I was stupid and didn't know better, and I uninstalled them when I was smarter and realized how stupid I was.

But the fact that it moved from computer to computer when I signed in on Chrome tells me that it's something wrong with Chrome itself? I ran my computer with several anti-Malwares, and antiviruses, and they can't find anything other than a corrupt file in Web Data and Secure Preferences, so I don't know. I guess I should stop trying to guess at it and let you look at it yourself and tell me what I did wrong? Huh?

Please tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it?

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Thank you for getting to me so fast! I was really worried that I'd have to wait a week or something.

Umm, you said to stop immediately and go to you if something different happens.

When I scanned Malwarebytes, it said that there are no threats detected. Do I continue the steps?

Done and done. Here are the txt files.

I have a question. When I get rid of this, will this get rid of it on Google Chrome as well? Because I don't want to have to deal with this every time I get Google Chrome on a new computer.

The issues occur when Google Chrome transfers my bookmarks etc from... I don't know where. So Every time I get a new computer and download Chrome and Sign in, I get the Trovi.
