Advice Request Trustworthy Android dialing & messaging apps? Now that we know google is collecting metadata with theirs

Does anyone have a good recommendation here that can be downloaded without needing access to the play store?

An app that interfaces directly with calls and texts bears a big responsibility when it comes to protecting user privacy. Since google has yet again been exposed as not deserving trust for many privacy advocates, what replacement dialer and messaging apps are good replacements?

Unfortunately, making the best with what they have is a situation that many people are in.

i use samsung default sms ...even google keyboard asks a lot of info to collect
