Serious Discussion uBlock Origin Lite - General Discussions

[...] and also not "Block Outsider Intrusion."
I have this one enabled with no issues, [...]
I am just not sure what the value is for me to activate it.
In 2024, the "Block Outsider Intrusion into LAN" filter list in uBlock Origin was mentioned as an easy fix for a specific browser vulnerability.
That is when I enabled that filter list, and I kept it enabled.

Well, I just did some tests, and it turns out that I raised the alarm bell too soon. There is one specific list in uBoL that causes the "the content is not available ... try again later" screen.

In my short test it seems that uBlock filters - Esperimental causes that message to show, with the others YouTube works as intended. And NO I do not use all of the list you see active in that picture. :)

No language specific, none of the "Diversen" section, and also not "Block Outsider Intrusion."

Too many subscribed filter lists.
Some list will also be removed from the next version of ubo/uBoL.

The flags.
To search, type:

Local Network

Enable when possible, as I did in Chrome.

I have 4 local network flags, which should it be? All four, or just a certain one.

Since yesterday, I haven't been able to view YouTube videos with the latest version of uBOL. While Ghostery allows videos to be viewed, comments weren't displayed yesterday. It's likely that Ghostery has been updated, and comments are now visible.
Ghostery's "dynamic" update is better because if there's a problem, it's fixed the same day, while with uBOL, you have to wait for the new version with updated filters.
This is the second issue that Ghostery has resolved with filters updated throughout the day.

Question.
Why don't I have the same problem as you?

I was asked why I use 2 adblocks.

Actually, that's not really the case; I only use 1 (uBo/AG).

uBoL with the slider set to Basis (I use it in this mode) and, moreover, without any subscribed filter lists operates entirely declaratively, meaning no permanent process is required for filtering.
The browser handles CSS/JS injection for content filtering, ensuring that uBOL does not consume CPU or memory resources while blocking content.

So basically, the DNR rules are applied by Chrome/Firefox itself, not by the extension.

I've never used Ghostery and have only used uBOL without any issues, even on YouTube 🤷‍♂️

Yesterday, I couldn't watch videos on YouTube. I was searching for “linear water drains,” and every video I clicked on showed “unavailable,” but the thumbnails for the videos were working fine. I didn't think there was any problem, but now I understand from this thread that the reason was uBlock Origin Lite.

I moved to Vivaldi just yesterday, but before I was watching YT videos on Edge with uBOL without issues; I do not know if the troubles started just yesterday or not.
