You explained the fallback mechanism used by ad networks. The Quick fixes list from uBO contains rules against most recent anti-adblock measures. Is it recommendable to add this list as optional? Or is the lag in updating (thanks to MV3) a serious barrier?

AdGuard Mv3 experimented with the different filtering categories for Mv3
1. Pre-loaded "static" list which are only updated when extension is updated
2. Dynamic list which could be updated by the extension
3. Session list which are only applicable during a session (I use them to swap levels in 3P-Matrix-lite)


AdGuard had the idea to trickle updates through the dynamic list margin, but they pulled that off after Google intervened. As an alternative Google offered to update static filter lists only without reviewing them. So when you structure your extension in the right way, these filter list updates could be pushed daily.

I am struggling a bit with the "automated update". I have separated (in version 8.4.3) the tools to make lists, the documentation and the pure extension code in different zips (on Github). I will get there, but Google places some hurdles (after every rejection I get a step further), eventually we get there.

I am working on the announced changes (focusing first on functionality and when it works on how it looks, so these are AI generated text and explanations). When you have the time, could you have a look at it and tell me whether the two-step (for average and power users) works in practice?

preview of (I hope) simplified user interface: the worry free = old never consent (but separated from cookie consent clicker) plus 3P-Matrix-lite level 3 protection. With all new options, uBlock Stripped is stil 1/3 smaller in size than uBO-lite.

I have an old Mediafire account that shows the Google login annoyance. So I thought, good place to test the block login function. But the issue is that the Google login pop-up covers the uBlock-stripped menu, so I could not click on the worry-free option. I first had to close the pop-up and then click 'worry-free browsing'... followed by reloading the page.

The never consent is now worry-free surfing, because uBlock-Stripped only covers 30 from the 35 most used CMP's (Cookie Management Platforms). With a possible 80% coverage in western world it would be to ambitious to call it never consent.

On the plus side: Worry free safe surfing enables some power/advanced features during the random surfing as is explained on Filter (block) list page (and of course the popup when starting worry-free safe surfing. When you use 3P-Matrix-lite in Level 3 max (Jan Willy's easy medium mode) you can remove 3P-Matrix-lite when v,8.4.X hits the webstore (latest version is currently 8.4.8, I know @Morro likes to have as less extensions as possible :-) )

Hi,
Some users (2) on WSF are trying to find features from uBlock Origin in uBlock Stripped - Dynamic Filtering.

Although uBlock Stripped - Dynamic Filtering includes the appropriate DNR rule that blocks CSP Reports and is capable of blocking this functionality,which is absent in the AdGuard Browser Extension,it is almost certain that many users do not know how to enable it.
You might consider.provided, of course, that this option is beneficial for your extension,adding this functionality to uBlock Stripped - Dynamic Filtering.

I did some testing with version 8.4.8. On most sites excellent results in Worry-free mode. Two small remarks:
- on nytimes.com not all images showed up (they did in regular mode)
- nbc.com opend very slow (faster in regular mode)

I assume the time limit on Worry-free mode was chosen because of limiting browserload. But I would like to see the more convenient option 'Always'.
I doubt if Worry-free mode is the right place for easy medium mode. I had hoped that 3P-M was fully integrated (as power tool) in uBS.

Yes NY times does not load images when you block webGL, get context 2D I forgot that. I will have a look at nbc.com

Full integreation is hard because 3P-Matrix-lite juggles with priotity levels using very simple DNR rules (that is why it is so tiny). Via a session rule trick I can implement easy medium mode (level 3 because it is TLD bound and not domain bound), but it is hard to juggle with priorities at domain level when there are several other filter lists involved. Full integration will be a challenge, but never say never.

No the worry-free mode temporary is because it could prevent logging in. I now store the scriptlets and cosmetic rule injection in memory as large chunk (AG approach), but apply them as small chunk (uBOL approach). So overhead of automatic cookie consent and other scriptlets is neglectable.

The extra filters are only simple DNR requestDomain rules. The 40.000 extra rules translate to 10 DNR rules. I switched from AdGuard Base to AdGuard Base optimized and with filters enabled the total touched +4K rules. I read about a benchmark with 4K DNR rules and 16K DNR rules and the performance drop was neglectable (not noticeable impact) because Chrome prcesses them so insanely fast. So that overhead is also a non issue.

But for you I will add an option to enable it for 360 minutes (and will remove the 10 minute time slot), to reduce the burden of re-enabling it.

Tonight I will submit 8.5 to Chrome webstore (managed to get additional 10 CMP's working, totalling to 40 now).

You can try using Dynamic DNR filtering and block google.com on that website also.

Please explain, it's not clear to me. If I want to log in, yet I can stop this mode?

For me not a deal breaker because it's easy to add an easy medium mode (or eventually a medium - or hard mode) rule to the ABP rules. This kind of rules are focused on resource types and not on domains. So no need for many - or extended filterlists. That's why I like 3P-M. So it's obvious that most of the time I will not use Worry-free mode.

PS: I'm not a fanatic anti ad person.
