Email from @danb :
Hey Guys,

Happy New Year!

Here is the latest version of CyberLock. There is a new feature named Smart Firewall on the Basic tab in settings, toward the top. You can use it to harden windows firewall rules, and at some point we are going to be doing some pretty cool things with it.

CyberLock 7.86

SHA-256: 817f6ea9c73c9725ad425853da35a2250d5e180ca112c9244dadd57d0ff37223

BTW, I have also been working on a new project that is not cybersecurity related at all, and it is almost ready. I guess you could call it a Desktop Enhancement software, and I built it because I was tired of the massive amounts of icons on my desktop, and also out of frustration of having to go back to the same 10 or so folders a thousand times a day, and having to drill down each time. It has been a lot of work (but very fun to work on) but maintaining will be super simple, so it should not distract me from our important projects. Anyway, I will send you guys a link hopefully within a week or so. It is a portable app, but there will be an installed version as well.

Thank you,

Dan

This project sounds like @alexandrud's Biniware Run.

Currently, what are the smart firewall's features?
It's just Windows Firewall Hardening by adding LOLbins to Windows Firewall, much like @Andy Ful 's FirewallHardening tool. See below example. It works along side of Comodo or other firewall that doesn't fully disable windows firewall.

That is true. But, from what I can tell, it goes beyond Andy Ful's FirewallHardening tool. I use his firewall hardening as well, but there are about 90 more blocking rules with this new CL hardening. That might not be good. That might not be bad. But the amount of rule, the restrictiveness, is different.

I've only gone with the Recommended and not done any real testing here but I'm glad for the feature ;)

your experience is that new feature is not messing anything up? I may try CL 7.86 in VM first... (but I'm not paranoid :ROFLMAO:)
Yeah, not causing any issue for me with Smart Firewall set to Recommended. It'll just block LOLBins that aren't supposed to connect out.

Email from @danb :
The new sideline development work of desktop enhancement sounds interesting will check it out once it's available.

For icons on my desktop I use Stardock Fences which does an excellent job or organising my desktop icons/folders/files.
For folder navigation I use Codesector DirectFolders this can be used to create jump points to folders from desktop or explorer.

Both of these products are very good but would be interested to review Dans new software.

I've been using CL aka VS for so long, my mind must blur when I look at settings, I installed 7.86 on win10 hardware and looking thru settings, I just do not find Smart Firewall. HELP!
