Panda company has been bitten by a panda. So they are very slow in improving there products.

Light antivirus are f secure, bullguard, avast.

It's protection is not better. it's on demand scanner is failure for now & 0 day protection is not good. i watched it reviews in youtube. U using Eset Nod32 & it's very good. If u think ESET is heavy for ur PC & u want a light & strong AV then i suggest u to use qihoo coz it's better then Baidu & webroot.
ESET is light

Just for curiosity's sake, is Ad-aware Free Antivirus + 11 good and light?
It's not good but maybe it's light. here some good review about it -

It's didn't did well & get owned by a ransomware ( last of video )

here another one & failed here too -

Light one is ESET. But there is old netbook edition for Norton internet security. Never tried...

I have noticed that it is light, but is it good enough, especially if the computer is offline?

It can be, if you're not a reckless PC user. Detections & removal shouldn't be a problem as you will be malware-free. ;)

Norton uses Smart Definitions, where older definitions for old viruses, trojans etc. are not downloaded to your PC - saving bandwidth. I believe Norton has an auto-scan, that cannot be turned off.

Edit: You'll need to check if any products are compatible with W8.1U1 - It should be compatible since it's a Windows Update, not an upgrade - could be wrong.
