Okay, because @Jan Willy was the first (he is using Quetta browser on Android) who tried the desktop oriented uBlock Stripped - Dynamic Filtering and ran into some usability hurdles because this extension was developed for desktop, I am now having a go at Android extensions.
So Brave, Vivaldi have their own adblockers (like Edge), but I am now also trying out Quetta which also has its own adblocker. Quetta does not offer auto delete history, so I am thinking of creating a copy of uBlock stripped - Dynamic filtering WITHOUT the 5eyes and extended EU-zone limitation, but WITH some easy to apply goodies from 3P-Matrix-lite and Download Sentinel.
What I am thinking of at the moment, but please feel free to suggest options (I will be collecting suggestions until last week of august)
1. User can add a list of domains to exclude (same as allow list of uBlock Stripped)
2. User can manually set containment levels for specific domains (1 = none, 2 = light, 3 = medium, 4 = strong containment, 5 = very strong conianment)
3. User can manually set a startup default mode (which is set to 1 bu default)
Problem with extensions on Android browsers that it is a bit of a hassle to change options, that is why it should be set and forget
This is what I have in mind for the automatic level settings
1. Level 1 = allow all for domains on the user entered list of allow all domains
2. Level 2 for the top 1 million websites with most visitors and ON a user editable list of whitelisted common Top Level Domains
3. Level 3 for websites outside the top 1 million
4. Level 4 for websites outside the top 1 million and NOT on the blacklist of level 5
5. Level 5 for websites outside the top 1 million and ON a user editable list list of most abused top level domains
Initial thoughts for the containment levels
Level 1 = no additional filtering
a) Users can import a list of domains or add domains manually on that list = existing Allow (whitelist) of uBlock Stripped
b) Option: delete history at start
c) Option: warn for fishy downloads (= only the heuristics part of Download Sentinel, e.g. contains punycode characters to resemble a known brand or changes file type or obfuscates real mime type)
Level 2 = add additional filters
this extension uses a bloom filter with FP rate of 0,1 % to automatically determine whether a domain is in the top 1 million most visited websites
Offer a list of additional filters to apply. The TLD whitelist would be the same as 3P-Matrix-lite and would use defaults based on the users language settings in the browser (users can manually add or remove TLD's or move slider to continent or world to increase the whitelist)
Users can enable (by default enabled):
a) anti-adblock specific of AdGuard
b) bypass paywall filter
c) AdGuard Mobile filter
d) enable very low breakage risk options of Security and Privacy tab of uBlock Stripped
e) block obsolete objects
Blank by default, but ...
d) user rules import of ABP-filters by copy-pasting them (maximum of 5.000) = existing ABP-import of uBlock Stripped, simular to AdGuard user rules
Level 3 = add additional limitations as level 2 plus
a) enable very low breakage risk options of Security and Privacy tab of uBlock Stripped
b) enable low breakage risk options of uBlock Stripped Dynamic filtering for websites on DuckDuckGo tracker data base with >0.1% prevalence
c) enable low breakage risk options of Privacy Inspector (JShelter fingerprint protection)
d) block pings
Level 4 = add additional limitations as level 3 plus
a) enable medium breakage risk options of uBlock Stripped Dynamic filtering for websites on DuckDuckGo tracker data base with >0.1% prevalence
b) enable medium breakage risk options of Privacy Inspector (JShelter fingerprint protection)
c) block websockets, webtransport additionally
d) block IP-address only third-party connections
Level 5 = add additional limitations as level 4 plus
a) enable higher breakage risk options of uBlock Stripped Dynamic filtering for websites on DuckDuckGo tracker data base with >0.1% prevalence
b) enable higher breakage risk options of Privacy Inspector (JShelter fingerprint protection)
d) block non-standard port connections (not 80, 8080, 443 or 8443)
e) block downloads outside whitelisted TLD's
Because AdGuard mobile blocklist is relatively small this extension would be usefull for everyone (not only people living in 5Eyes of extended EU-zone like uBlock Stripped with Dynamic Filtering).
This is intention, I have to learn the ins and outs of Android extension (limitations).
Bottem line:
When user configures the extensions (defaults woud work as well also), it would be set and forget. Power users can lock levels similar to 3P-Matrix-lite for specific websites (but as mentioned in most Android browsers it is a bit of a hassle to change extension settings manually).
Feel free to post and ... users assisted with making Download Sentinel, 3P-Matrix-lite and uBlock Stripped with Dynamic Filtering (a combination of uBO-lite, AG Mv3 and JShelter for people living in 5Eyes and extended EU-zone) as good as they are now will always have the final say when MT-members are disagreeing on features.
