What movie are you watching or planning to watch?

Thank you very much for the words of encouragment @Halp2001, I hope so. :)

I am glad that you enjoyed Paradise Season 1.

Thanks for reminding me about Season 2, I finished episode 1 yesterday, it was like its own movie, with two moments that slightly made me somewhat tear up.
I like Paradise s2e1, fwiw I have started e2 three times and quickly fall asleep. (it's me not Paradise) I need to try again in morning with breakfast and coffee

@simmerskool, yours is almost a ritual: three attempts and sleep always wins the match 😄. Maybe Paradise s2e2 is just waiting for that breakfast with coffee to reveal itself properly. Cheer up! Sometimes the best stories are enjoyed more when you catch them at just the right moment, as if the series wanted to test you. I’m sure next time it’ll grab you and won’t let go. ☕📺✨

If anyone is looking for a new show to binge, Person of Interest is now available on Netflix in most regions. It’s a great show, I can highly recommend it. I finished watching it for the first time a couple of months ago and honestly, it’s currently my number one favourite show. It was way ahead of its time, almost completely predicted our current situation with AI.

What Is It?

The 2013 science fiction film Under The Skin was directed and co-written by Jonathan Glazer.

It was somewhat based on the novel Under The Skin by Michel Faber. The film stars the actress Scarlett Johansson.

Under the Skin – Movie Review:

My Thoughts

I think that I first found out about this film several years ago.

It was thanks to Grace Randolph when I saw a video on her YouTube channel Beyond The Trailer.

The video was called: Under the Skin Official Trailer + Trailer Review – Scarlett Johansson : HD PLUS:

The movie trailer looked interesting, and it looked like a movie that I wanted to see.

There was something indescribable about the trailer. It had a dream-like (surreal-like) feel.

I wanted to see this movie at a movie theater. However, it did not play in my area. It was a limited release film.

Back then, I remember trying to find this movie online, but I could not.

Many months passed before it was available for me to watch. I was finally able to watch this film.

This film is not exactly a traditional type film, it seemed more like an art film in some ways.

Some of the minor characters in the movie have very hard to understand, probably Scottish accents.

Most of those characters who were hard to understand were probably not actors or actresses.

They were likely people who did not realize that they were in a movie at first.

This is definitely not a film for everyone. It definitely has its flaws. However, some parts of the film work well.

I wish the all black room was shown more.

The amazing eerie and somewhat alien music by Mica Levi (Micachu) really saved this film for me.

The music went well with most of the scenes.

Mica Levi (Micachu) deserves more recognition for her amazing music for this film.

It helped to save this production. The music was one of the best things about it.

Here is a good short featurette about the music for this film:

Under the Skin Featurette – The Music World (2014) – Scarlett Johansson Sci-Fi Movie HD:

Here is a YouTube playlist of the soundtrack:

This film would be better if some parts were filmed again. It should be done with actors and actresses.

The current version uses people who did not realize they were in a movie at first.

This movie would also be better if: some characters had their dialogue dubbed.

This would make it easier to understand what they are saying.

It would be improved if it was reedited to be more accessible to a larger audience.

Adding new scenes would better explain and show more of the science fiction elements of this film.

This film was not what I had expected. It was not as good as I had expected. I did not like it as much as I had expected.

However, there was still something about this film that I can not quite describe.

It was one of those films. I felt that maybe I needed to watch it again.

And that I needed to better form my opinion of how I really feel about this film.

Maybe I will like the film better if I watch it again. However, I still have not watched it again yet.

Person of Interest was definitely a show ahead of its time: the idea of a machine predicting threats and the dilemma of trusting artificial intelligence feels written for today.I really enjoyed it, even though it had its ups and downs—sometimes leaning more into police cases than the deeper philosophy—but it always found its way back to the central theme. Overall, it left us with a very relevant reflection on how we coexist with technology.🔮🤖⚖️

Option 1: First thing I’d do: take out my phone and record everything… because if I’m going to be chased by a supernatural entity, it might as well give me views on YouTube 📱
Option 2: Place a mirror so it can look at itself, facing its own reflection 🪞
🤔💡😌
Thanks for answering that @Halp2001, those are some good choices. I could also imagine using mirrors to allow yourself to keep the entity / entities in view as you escape.

@goodjohnjr! In the end, between mirrors and recordings we’re basically setting up the “paranormal tactical unit”: one runs, another keeps watch, and we all end up with exclusive material for YouTube. 😄

Also, with a live stream, you can crowd source keeping an eye on it. By having at least one random person watching it at all times on your YouTube channel, Facebook, et cetera. 😁

I'm currently watching it on Netflix. Even though I have the complete dvd set, I am now watching it for the 3rd time. I am currently halfway through season 1. I agree, this show is very well done.

Rats, I guess I may need to wait awhile? I'm looking for something to follow-up after I finish Dark tonight. Maybe something a little on the lighter side? (pun intended :))

@Jonny Quest After finishing Dark, I can see why you’d want something lighter. For me, Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man was a fun detective ride with humor and intrigue — definitely easier to digest after such an intense series. And The White Lotus has been spectacular so far, with its satirical tone offering a refreshing shift, especially once you’ve gone through all three seasons of Dark. Of course, those were my preferences, which may not always match what you might enjoy, but they worked well for me. 🌗✨🎬

Person of Interest is one of my all-time favorite shows. A lot of talent made it so memorable: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan's brother, created the show alongside some notable executive producers, such as J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.

Jim Caviezel absolutely triumphs as John Reese, the main protagonist. The rest of the cast does an amazing job.

103 episodes in total, and they still managed to maintain high production standards and engaging storylines all while touching on poignant subjects like the double-edged sword of advanced AI, mass surveillance, societal freedom, and human value.

You can also stream it on Amazon Prime.

Soon after I finished the series, I went onto eBay and bought the complete set on Blu-ray. I don't often buy discs for TV series, but this one, I just had to!

It would be a bonus if they included director commentary, behind the scenes features etc. It's one of the reasons I used to wait for those editions to come out on DVD and Blu-ray, to buy.

It does come with some of that stuff, including bloopers, which I didn't expect for a show like this, buy I enjoy watching them.

And just noticed your location on your profile, lol. If you have Prime Video, you can stream Person of Interest in the USA. Person of Interest - streaming tv show online

The trailer for Under the Skin conveys an unsettling atmosphere that sparks curiosity. Even though @goodjohnjr mentioned it wasn’t exactly what he expected, I still found it intriguing enough to add it to my watchlist for later. 🌌👁️📽️
Hello @Halp2001, that trailer for Under The Skin is what had me really wanting to see it, the music also sets the mood.

Just like the music in the movie itself.

To me the trailer is better than the movie.

But the movie is worth watching at least once for the black void scenes alone, and for something different.

I possibly liked Amulet better overall and the performances, except of the main character (Alec Secareanu as Tomaz).

But I liked the music and black void scenes in Under The Skin better.
