Listen to their Pet Sounds album- its often listed as one of the greatest pieces of music of all time. Its not about surfing or cars, but about love and life. Orchestral arrangements and haunting vocals. Wow, what an incredible album.

I'll have to check that out, never heard about it and you don't have to justify your tastes in music here, we all like what we like and in 10 or 15 yrs you may like something completely different, I hope I'm still here to listen.
Here's one from Joe Cocker pretty much gone to seed and yet he still pulls it off beautifully, a natural and a champion to his art to the end.
