What to do with a old laptop with a smoking motherboard and bloated battery?

Safety first! Dispose of the bloated battery properly as it's hazardous. As for the laptop, you could salvage parts like the hard drive, RAM, etc. The ThinkCentre you're looking at seems like a good choice.

First place the laptop in open area,
Remove the battery and plugins from Laptop ASAP
Go to service centre near you.

Yeah, my laptop caught on fire randomly and gets hot and just smokes, battery is bloated like a lot, eyeing a thinkcentre https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D5DSLW8Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A228VADS2SZMAI&psc=1
Turn off the laptop and unplug it and carefully without any pressure on the battery remove it
You can either use the laptops without a battery always plugged and repurpose it as some server , desktop or get a new battery

Just an idea maybe you can turn it into a sophos firewall (they offer all the paid features free for home use )

I'm sorry. I don't understand.
If a laptop's motherboard is smoking, the laptop even on fire as Xciting said, you don't ask for advice at MalwareTips, I would think, but you put the laptop outside as soon as you can.
Removing the battery, and dispose of it as hazardous material, was good advice.
Bot's suggestion to see if laptop parts like hard drive and RAM can be salvaged, is not a bad idea.
To repurpose the laptop as desktop or server or firewall, as Vitali Ortzi suggested, that doesn't seem much use, as Xciting mentioned the motherboard was smoking, or even on fire!

You made this topic on your fried laptop ?
what a useless topic , just use your common sense, if no one replied your house would be ashes.
Possible he used a different pc , laptop or even a phone to create and ask the questions anyway since it's fried 🍤 only likely only thing to do if it's an old laptop and is shorted is to dump it in the recycle bin ♻️
