These are among others the one I'm using from my different browsers FF, Brave and Chrome based.

AdGuard Annoyances

Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list

Top500 most used ad & trackers in West Europe & North America

http : // vxvault . net/URL_List . php

Block-EU-Cookie-#####-List

I don't care about cookies

Online Malicious URL Blocklist

Reduce Google nuisances on search, maps and youtube

Which block list do you use for now ?

How do you cope with the overlapped lists ? Do you compare, cleaned your list ?

Do you make your own customized list ?

Any comment or contribution will be great, thank you all.

I'm a bit concerned about Kees1958 EU US most prevalent ads & trackers filter list. A major contributor to this list, beerisgood (AKA SecurityNightmares), ended his support.
i also maintain now an own (very small) list which is included by OISD.
This list is specialised for OISD and only adds domain no other list add.

Will the list be well maintained?
I say yes. Kees is still active and has some contributor. So, if you fine with his list, use it.

and he seems a bit offset about a source which polluted the list.
Yes. I never understand why Kees doesn't revert the faulty source completely but it's his baby.
It was also just logically that i stop adding time into a project which can't archive my goal.

I have accidentally used a source which I initially rejected (with last years major update), I remember finding carrefour.es (not france), quantas, booking, kayak and forbes (Forbes triggered me), thanks for your hard work. Really appreciate your feedback.

GitHub offers version control, but with the major update the faulty source probably got mixed with correct additions. Since he rejected the source he might have thrown away the bad source also. He is probably unable to back track the changes, why else would he start the tedious task to cleanup the complete list manually?. You could have asked him :)

uBO github wiki said:
Poorly crafted removeparam filters can have deleterious effects on performance, experienced filter authors are expected to understand well how to craft optimal filters.

There are difference in how Adguard (Desktop) applies these rules and how uBlockOriging this has programmed. Just remember how Yuki reacted on my first post playing with Queryprune (uBO's original name for this feture before it copied the Adguard synonym of removeparam). Yuki's warning (for having desastreus effects performance) was triggered while I used the @domain= limitation to this remove URL parameter function. Yuki warned that "1 badly constructed queryprune rule cost's as nuch CPU as 10.000 wel constructed rules"

So using 50 AG generic removeparam rules adds your rule count performance wise with 50.000 rules in uBO (not in AG)

Regarding this site; Latest UK and World News, Sport and Comment | Express.co.uk . I can stop the cookie consent popping up but in doing so it freezes any media from playing and I'm also unable to view comments. Everything was working okay until a few days a go then this issue started, I'm unsure if the website has changed anything or It's something I've done. Any help please.
I use the extension, I don't care about cookies with uBlock Origin. No issue on this site.
Five minutes ago, I went back to the site and couldn't access it. So the issue must be the site.
I tried a different browser (Edge) instead of Chrome and everything went smoothly. I was able to watch any media.
To sum up: with Chrome, even if I disable UO, I get issues. With Edge, it runs OK.

It's probably easier to add the Exception to always block cookies in your browser, like I do for consent.google.com and consent.youtybe.com (as below). I would do it with uBO but I've yet to perfect pop-under players on pages.

In edge with 'I don't care about cookies' enabled, I don't get a cookie consent popping up. However if I open a link the media won't play and comments are unavailable. So' I disable 'I don't go care about cookies' and hey presto the media plays and the comment section works. However the cookie consent now pops up exactly the same as it does in Firefox.

For Dutch Google search I also needed to block cookies from [*.]google.nl
That links to something I've often wondered about, how many language specific filters I should add to blocklists. You can set AdGuard to automatically add language specific filters, so when you visit a site with say a .nl domain name it installs the Dutch one, although from a typical years browsing I could end up with filters for half of the world, so I'm not sure if I want all of those lists. Paranoia overload?! With alternatives to AdGuard it could well be a lot more work maintaining the filter list if you can't do it on an automatic basis. I'd prefer to keep the ubiquitous G**gle and similar data slurpers away from my web travels as best I can.

Edit - corrected 'form' typo to 'from'.

I would only add the onces you primarily browse. Everyone will visit a site outside those language specific lists, whether that site is in your native language translated or in English or whichever else now and then. Adding more lists you don't use or only for that one time visit now and then, is not worth the paranoia. If you want to, you'd be better off using a large and gigantic block list that has already integrated the majority of the languages. OISD and a bunch of others come to mind then.

In my case its English and Dutch primarily. For someone in Switzerland (as an example) it could be German, English and perhaps even French or Italian depending on where live closer too.

Yes, that is how I've been doing it. I visit French, Spanish and Italian sites quite regularly so I have their filters set up alongside English as my main lists. But in the back of my mind I've had this thought about how many others I should add, while wanting to keep them as minimal as possible, its been about getting the balance right up until this point.

In the last months I noticed a gradual decline from 4000 to 3500 rules, but today I noticed a huge reduction after manually updating uBO, only 2157 rules! Seems this weekend the list got a huge update (probably the cleanup mentioned by Jan Willy)

Also support for the Host file seems to be dropped, since Beerisgood (our Securitynightmares) left the project
