App Review Windows Defender Hardening test vs Malware

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.
Does hardening Windows Defender like this, MAPS and Block at first sight etc. affect performance in games?
Why do MAPS, Block at first sight and other settings come disabled by defaul?

If you use this extension in another browser like Opera or Chrome, will the protection be the same of Edge, or just partial?

It's partial unfortunately, but it still helps and doesn't use much resources.
But do you need it, that depends on your realtime av.
When using Microsoft Defender as AV I would recommend Bitdefender TrafficLight in all your browsers and Microsoft Defender Browser Protection in all browsers that are not Edge.
Tested extensively some time ago by @Evjl's Rain .

So none of those things, MAPS, MpEngine, etc can run in the background while gaming?
MpEngine is always running in the background that's just Microsoft Defender. Most of the hardening is setting certain rules to be applied to detections, but it isn't turning on additional functions that use more resources as far as I understand. It may use a tiny amount more, it may take longer to launch apps, but I doubt it would affect framerates as such.

For Edge I thought Malwarebytes Browser Guard was the best extension now. I would prefer it, since I'm already using Malwarebytes free for occasional scans, just so I won't have another AV brand mixed in :ROFLMAO:
