Yandex Browser has just been updated to 64-bit. šŸ˜®
It is a small step for browsers, but a big step for Yandex.

4 days ago, it was just 64-bit compatible. I have noticed it only by a chance.

I'm sure Yandex team is great and that's cool they are developing and widen their boundaries, so to say
the only thing about them that triggers me frequently is there are many apps and software that install different yandex features by default
so one should be attentive and "tick" the yandex boxes only when it's needed.

It seems, that Yandex plans to drop the support for dnscrypt soon. The number of servers dropped to mere 25. And while FAQ webpage still exists:
They have removed all links to it:
I suppose they plan to go for DoH instead, but I can not blame them. DNSCrypt technically does not exist and I guess, it can not support eSNI either.

For fun I tried Yandex browser. The cookie prompts of Yandex own services are a real nuisance, the chromium version lags considerably making the extra security features of Yandex arbitrary because of the high vulnerability risk. I have not found how I can make it a clean looking browser (no blank new tab extension, no way to disable the background pictures or disable startpage features). So I ask myself: what on earth do users of Yandex like in this browser with so many chromium based alternatives on the market?

P.S. have removed it again.

Another interesting update. Tabs has changed a little, they are much higher, I guess to support touch devices.
But it also includes 3 new apps: Facebook, YouTube and Yandex Mail, they can run as a standalone browser.

I was just wondering this morning, I used my laptop again... been a few years, Yandex was on it, wouldn't open....

I couldn't figure out why, but now I know.... 32 bit Windows (7) Pro.

So, Yandex has decided to join the anti-tracking herd. Currently there are no general settings, just per web bases, partly in Russian. šŸ™ƒ
