This was the culprit. When I installed Helium, on the welcome screen I disabled the automatic browser updates option that is why I never received automatic updates. Thanks for sharing this

After updating to 0.14.4.1 the browserr is unstable and laggy. It takes about 5 secs to open.

A system restart did the trick for me. It is understandable to face such issues when the browser is still in Alpha stage.

Auto-update: I meant that Helium for Windows checks for and installs updates when you access the "About" screen.

It appears Helium also auto-updates; I just checked the "About" screen, and it was already downloading updates at 47%.
