New Update AdGuard for Windows - Beta Updates Thread

Never had any problem with Adguard for Windows except a few years back when it had an incompatibility with Kaspersky. iOS version also works with no troubles on 4 phones. No great difference in browsing speed either. As any security software, performance greatly depends on what is installed on your machine.

I tried out the nightly builds. My browsing is still slow with AdGuard. Advanced settings lack the option to reroute secure DNS browser traffic through the app's resolver. I hope it remains a feature in future updates. In general, it's unstable and frequently freezes during navigation.
I was unable to used the 8.0 nightly. Browsing became broken and I was unable to access all the main gui tabs. I reimaged back to 7.20.3 and everything was perfect.
I think it's going to take a few months before version 8 becomes usable. Thanks for the feedback. I will stay away from version 8 for now.

I'm trying version 8 on a notebook that only I use. If I run into trouble, it only affects me at home, and I know how to handle it. So far, it's faster than version 7.

That's good to know. I'm a bit surprised because I saw quite a few people reporting crucial bugs. They haven't released any new nightly in a while so I think they are internally working to fix most bugs before releasing another one. It seems the new driver that I mentioned a few comments ago is not part of the nightly edition yet.
Another thing is, MS is making AV vendors and anti-cheat providers not have kernel-level drivers anymore. So the AdGuard's driver will also be affected by this.

I think if they don't find a way around that, future versions of Adguard will default to proxy mode.

Same; will try beta. Meanwhile, I'm experimenting by turning off various fuctions because they might be causing Adguard to do too much work:

- turned off tracking protection and letting multi-account containers in Firefox handle matters;

- turned off browsing security and letting the AV take care of that (both Adguard and the AV exclude each other for scanning); and

- turned off DNS protection and using DNS Jumper to set the DNS for the whole system.

AdGuard can over do things, I find as in all things in life getting the right balance, I too have tried afferent options in AdGuard, security in PC's this is never ending experience as just about all things as things are fluid - One thing AdGuard is offering is even more (meaningful) statistics in eight as I remember, as for me me I don't give a rats - Years ago I was interested in stats, these days I just want a program to do the job, if I could turn basic stats in AG off I would as for me they become meaningless in a very short period of time, much like Windows events 99.9% of the time meaningless - Just get on with the job, if I see no ads I know the program is working effectively :giggle:

AdGuard for Windows 7.21 RC
Along with the usual bug fixes, this version brings something new for those using Microsoft’s latest Copilot+ PCs. The Tracking protection section in AdGuard for Windows now includes an option Disable Windows Recall. Why is it needed?
This feature blocks Recall, a tool that periodically takes screenshots and stores them locally, so you can search through your past activity like a timeline.
Microsoft claims it’s private enough: it’s off by default, requires Windows Hello authentication, avoids collecting sensitive data like credit card numbers or ID documents, and encrypts all stored data.
But for AdGuard, that’s not enough. Screenshots still capture what’s on your screen — and not everything that’s private can be reliably filtered out. For example, a chat window, a partial account number, or something as simple as your to-do list could be saved without your knowing.
While Copilot+ PCs are still new and not widely used yet, they’ll likely become the new norm soon enough. AdGuard is ready to protect your privacy even before that happens.
To stop Windows from capturing your screen activity, go to Settings → Tracking Protection → Windows Tracking and turn on Disable Windows Recall.

AdGuard for Windows 8.0 beta 1
The wait is almost over. After a period of intense testing in our nightly channel, we’re glad to invite you to the next major step: AdGuard for Windows v8.0 beta 1 is now available for everyone to try!

What’s new in v8.0

Instead of packing in a dozen new features, we dedicated ourselves to perfecting the core of AdGuard. The goal was to give the app better speed, stability, and simplicity.

Here’s what you’ll notice from the moment you start using the beta:
  • Faster startup: AdGuard now launches almost instantly, so it’s ready to protect you right when you need it.
  • More reliable filtering: We’ve improved how AdGuard processes requests to ensure consistent, uninterrupted protection against ads and trackers.
  • Quiet performance: AdGuard v8.0 works efficiently in the background, letting you focus on what matters — whether you’re working, gaming, or just browsing.

That’s not all — we’ve made other improvements, including enhancements in the Statistics and App management sections and the UI. If you’re curious about the details, you can read about them in our nightly build article and in the version history.

Ready to try?

If you’re as excited as we are to experience a faster, more stable, and more reliable AdGuard, now is the time to jump in. Download AdGuard for Windows v8.0 beta now.

Install it, use it as you normally would, and let us know what you think. Together, we can make the v8.0 release truly spectacular!

AdGuard for Windows 8.0 beta 1

I'm eager to install, but worry about bugs. I already see some bugs on GitHub that needs to be fixed.

I figured out why that is happening to me. AdGuard for Windows 8 now requires WebView. Version 7 did not, but version 8 does. I get rid of all that crap, hence why 8 didn't work for me. It took me completely reinstalling 25h2 from scratch to figure that out, but I did. So you need to keep WebView, unfortunately. But check your systems. Microsoft can often keep multiple version of WebView and Edge. You might be able to get rid of some things, because only the most recent version of WebView is needed. The rest you can get rid of.

Thanks - Same issue here for same reason, so for now AdGuard is out.
