RE: biozfear's secondary config (updated 18/12/11))

Swapped AVAST for G Data AntiVirus 2012(Trial run).

So far so good, since AVAST one again is causing problems with updates (Unsure exactly what is happening, so I will test the AVAST config on a Disk Image in VM and hopefully find the Source).

Also added Sandboxie and configured it accordingly for usage (even created the shortcut as suggested by Jack on another post - thanks Jack).

From IE9 you can set also the "tracking protection" alongside to simple adblock.

RE: Biozfear's secondary config (updated 16/6/12)

Update:
Replaced:
*Avast with Panda Antivirus Pro 2012 (Firewall and Safe browser not installed), with default settings
*Windows 7 backup utility with Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 since there is no need for multiple images and the images get stored in one of my backup externals

Added:
*Emsisoft Emergency Kit as an additional On-Demand scanner
*Norton DNS

LinkScanner disabled, or not selected on custom install?

AVG Free won't last long, you will find something about it you won't like. :p

Disabled. I forgot to do a custom install.

I hardly use this computer so AVG might last long unless I start receiving complaints. If that is the case, I do have a backup plan...

Uninstalled and reinstalled AVG.
Did a custom install, enabled Link Scanner but did not install the toolbar.
Also add Ad-Aware Web Protection module.

Replaced a few apps (bits and pieces).

That should be it for now. Since I had AVG installed, no infection was detected (HMP/EEK/MBAM).

Might consider going to avast! once the upcoming build is fully released, but with a custom install and tweaked settings.

So how you will rate avg on scale of 5?

Removed AVG Antivirus Free 2012 and Ad Aware Web Protection.

Added NAV 2012 and tweaked a few settings.

NAV was being tested on my old system on real time (not VM) for some days now.

Still can't beat an Install and Forget solution since I hardly use this system.

You can refer to my text based review on the scale points:)

No infections during the AVG time in this system.

Replaced avast! with McAfee SaaS Endpoint Protection (AV+Firewall+Browser Protection) and Emsisoft Mamutu.

SaaS license is the one that was being used on my main laptop.

seems logical , you can manage all your systems via its web interface. i wondered what will be the other endpoints, now i have my answer ;)

The purpose is to then manage everything via the network and not really me using the laptop for maintenance. Until I installed SaaS on this laptop, everything was done via Network apart from managing the AV.

Guessing you a lot more computers in the house? Would like to see how it goes for you, as it would be great for all the computers I have here.
