Hello,
On my Windows 10 pro PC, I'm running (BDTS 2017 + Voodoo Shield Pro + Malwarebytes 3), and this combo is very smooth for me, but when I saw the results of MT tests here : AV Test - MalwareTips - Bitdefender Report - March 2017 and here : AV Test - MalwareTips - Kaspersky Report - March 2017, I think that these tests demonstrated that Kaspersky did a better job then Bitdefender:rolleyes:
So my question is to know if it is a good idea to replace BD by KIS on my config ?
Thanks
NB: I have paid keys for both

That Bitdefender Report is for the FREE version of BD that clearly lacks some (advanced) features that make an IS/TS complete.
BD Free does have a behavior blocker (ATC) in addition to definitions engine but BTS is comprised of customizable level of ATC (AFAIK it's set to High/Aggressive by default but we have no idea about BD free's level) + AI based Anti-ransomware module that @Evjl's Rain mentioned + the firewall that will help at times with suspicious connections.

So the comparision made isn't that of equals at all. I've seen BTS users sticking to it for years (except those who didn't like its performance). I love it too.
Kaspersky IS/TS is a different league mainly with its "configurable Application Control", "KSN" and "TAM" that add to its overall effectiveness.
Example of breakdown of KTS detection by @harlan4096 at MH:
(12 by Cloud/KSN / 5 by Heur (Trojan/Script) / 1 by Dangerous Application Behaviour (System Watcher) / 1 by Signatures)
From my experience, Kaspersky gives lesser FPs than BTS.

Let's see the main differences and advantages you get from both, in a modular way:
If you strip KIS of its KSN network and App Control, what remains is its Definitions engine + System Watcher (BB) primarily.
If you strip BTS of its Anti-ransomware module, what remains is its Definitions engine + ATC (BB) primarily, though it uses cloud too.

Having known all this, it's your understanding and experience that should decide for your resident AV.
Pairing (ignoring MB) is totally your choice based on needs (say you like AI recommendations by VDS) and system performance available.

Kaspersky Internet Security is all that you need, with Application Control and Trusted Application Mode you can "simulate" Voodoo Shield funcionality.

I use this : Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 + Voodoo Shield Pro (not in default sitting)

I test many malware from Malware Vault (Samples)
If file did not block by KIS, Voodooshield (Vodoo Ai) block it even if I am not connect to internet.
(Never open any file from inside WinRAR program, extract it before apply.)
disabling the parent exception solves the WinRaR issue too in VS.

Antivirus are like Underwears as I say. Keep changing them (not everyday though hehe :p ), but keep testing them urself. If you are a user like many of us who like to keep trying new things and keep learning, then you already know what to do ;)

Hi JB007, long time no see.
You stick with BDTS you can't go wrong, you don't need to add anything with it,
unless you want to, and if you do, what I would add would be VS.
With that combo you could damn near wade through a pool of Malware and be
just fine (not advised though). lol
Let us know what you decide because in the end it's you being comfortable that matters.

Your best antivirus is your *current* antivirus, no matter if it's Kaspersky or Bitdefender or any of the mainstream AV companies. Nothing is going to protect you above 99% or below 90%
Hell @jackuars
Thanks, but for a non expert like me 90% or 99% make a great difference:confused:

Hi @_CyberGhosT_
Thanks, also nice to meet you again;)
During the last months I have tried Emsisoft IS, Avast IS, KIS and BDTS and with my knowledge level I feel better with KIS or BDTS.
But I cannot use both on the same PC ;)
Now I continue to use BDTS on my professional PC and KIS on my home PC...

just follow my instruction to set ATC = aggressive + enable antiransomware -> you don't need kaspersky :D
it's very very strong
setting up kaspersky is a bit more complicated

For me I will go for Kaspersky Internet Security without Voodoshield (already overkill cause Kaspersky IS can handle well alone on a system).

KIS provides the true essence of protection since not only on typical components, but it contains Application Control and System Watcher for more in-depth analysis.

All you have to do is carefully tweak the settings based on the preferences you wanted to.

I recommend common sense! Both will protect you, don't be paranoid, you will not encounter a malware like we test here in real life if you have some good info about IT and some common sense ☺️ i was like some guys here, paranoid about getting infection even from a simple surfing of Internet!, Don't be. You have to surf so deep in Internet to even see one sample of malware which gets detected even by mainstream security apps, but i warn you about flash memory drives, i saw what an infected flash drive can do that even some testing labs miss it's importance. I saw that Kaspersky and bitdefender are both good in repairing a flash drive since in flash drive infections the repairing power is much important than even detecting the malware. Just install popular apps for daily use and you are good to go.

think of Voodooshield as your automatic Virustotal checker. It will slow things down, but if any AV has a signature of your malicious file, Voodooshield will alert you on it.

KIS itself is enough for most people, but something being "enough" is just a matter of how paranoid you are.
