I was thinking of giving this a try for about a week now but not so sure anymore.
In a VM, maybe...

See post 9 in this thread.I'll make my own version as downloading/installing someone elses version makes me paranoid!
What i cant understand is, if its a stripped down version why is it larger than the original?
Yo can use Everything Search Tool for files and folders search. He removed Cortana. So windows search won't work right, in this edition of Windows. That's what I read somewhere.
I will never trust those "custom made" version, who know what they may "silently" added...
I will rather do it myself.
That's strange. Do you have clean ISO and your modified ISO? If so, extract those in two separate folders. Then download WinDirStat and see what makes customized ISO larger. My original Win10x64 (with Home & Pro version) is about 4GB, after custom mood it was about 4,7-5GB.
Don't know why is like that...logically, the file would be smaller if you removed some things ...
yes but at least what MS does is official. This topic remind me a guy i knew, installing a "custom" WinXP, what he didn't know was the rootkit built-in that transmitted all his keystrokes to a C&C...Umbra do you say in addition to that already silently added by MS?
The level of compression you use, when you reconvert it to ISO, makes a big difference in the size of the file.My original Win10x64 (with Home & Pro version) is about 4GB, after custom mood it was about 4,7-5GB.

Why not?
It is easy, but it take some time.
I created for myself and installed in Virtual Box (Windows Defender and Edge is ON).
Installation is finish more quicker then "normal" Windows.
RAM usage is about 700MB (on "normal" Windows is about 1200MB).
The entire system is somehow alive and quicker, space used on HDD/SSD is less then 9GB.
Is it possible to remove Cortana completely but keep search bar in taskbar? Here are some pictures (Start Menu, HDD space, RAM usage @idle & BootUp time):

This I'd like to know as well. Don't want Cortana but search bar is useful. Is it possible to remove Cortana completely but keep search bar in taskbar?
