I tried to whitelist everything and disable all crystal security protection and all that but the damage was done.....

Just an FYI I have been in the IT field for over a decade, I am no novice. I did not just go about fooling with settings to make this happen, it happened under normal operation of my machine with stealth guard down.

As we discussed earlier I disabled Stealth guard on my second run, this time it made firefox give an error about could not load xpcom. I can not recall the error for the command prompt. I did a system restore and that fixed the command prompt error. I had to enable the built in admin account and install firefox from there to keep all my setting for firefox. I think my case may be unique perhaps not. Either way this program should still be labled beta.

@Smith83 Hmm. Did you saw any threat alert by Crystal Security? Was there any entry under Blacklist section?
I do appreciate that you are in the military, stay safe. :D

Thanks. :)
@Kardo Kristal How much RAM and CPU does Crystal Security use?

@Anti-Malware Reviewer
  • RAM usage is usually 30 megs.
  • CPU usage should stay on 0%, sometimes it is 1% or 2%
No slowdowns here. :)

Kardo

This program just decided to attack my machine. I hope this does not come off the wrong way, I like what you are doing here. Just needs to work out a few bugs. I did try this program a few months back but it was not even able to run on this computer, I figured since you announced the new version I would try it again. Perhaps you could make a few programs auto whitelisted. Especially the command prompt. :)

@Smith83 It should whitelist Command prompt automatically.

Can you please send your cmd.exe so I can analyze it.

This file is system file and should be clean and not detected by any database.
@Kardo Kristal Can I use it with my current configuration (in my description)?

Thank you in advance :)

@Anti-Malware Reviewer I saw your config. :)

Yes, it should work but if you see any conflict or issue then try to exclude Crystal Security file in other security solutions.

Kardo

I'm not sure what the cause, as this does not happened to a firefox cloned browser such as Palemoon or Cyberfox from my experienced.

The XPCOM error can happen after a Windows System Restore and may not be related to CS entirely though i've seen this error when Firefox is sandboxed. One way to fix this is to do clean reinstall of Firefox by removing Firefox program folder and then reinstalling Firefox.

In general keep away from using program such as System Mechanic or similar which do more harm to your browser than good.

Test it with Palemoon or Cyberfox which is a keeper and see if you can replicate the error.
CS is a good security program, it needs regular feedbacks to get it maintain and improved by the developer i'm sure Kardo will give a helping hand as he usually does.

Nope this is what prompted me to do a system restore.

Lol, no things like that ever touches any of my computers.

That is what I am doing here, I could have just easily removed it from my machine and not wasted my time telling about the issue. I told the guy I like what he is doing here, which is exactly why I have taken the time to inform him on this issue. So that is does not happen to someone else in the future, glad it happened to me, as I am able to fix the issue easily. Maybe I have saved someone who is not so tech savvy a big headache in the future, by letting the developer know my issue now. I do not do much to help in this community, but when I do I feel I should make it count.

It is a borderline insult for you to tell me this........

System Mechanic or similar

That would be the same as me telling you rinse the shampoo out of your hair after you wash it. There are people in this world who need instructions on shampoo, but I am not one of those people my friend.

Good to know, just being general. :D

@Kardo Kristal So I'v installed this and so far I'm liking it alot,works really well doesn't use up alot of system resources however I'v found a really nasty bug with it aswell.Basicly if crystal security ask's me to allow or block a file and that file doesn't exist by the time I answer the prompt crystal security will crash completely and take out any rules I'v made since last boot.Any chance of getting this fixed?Here's what the error logfile said "Could not find file 'C:\Users\BLACKF~1\AppData\Local\Temp\DX7712.tmp\xactengine2_0.dll'. at System.Windows.Forms.Control.MarshaledInvoke(Control caller, Delegate method, Object[] args, Boolean synchronous)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.Invoke(Delegate method, Object[] args)
at Crystal_Security.Main.Get_Result()
at Crystal_Security.Main.Request_cloud()
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()"
