New Update Defender Hardening Console Executable

Do not attempt to install the extension without the backend, it will not work.
Hello, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean (i.e backend). Installing Helios Web Marshall extension from Chrome Web Store isn't enough ? Helios Web Marshall - Chrome Web Store Do you mean I have to keep Defender Hardening Console always opened / active ? Or Helios Web Marshall will be released as a component of Defender Hardening Console (or as a separate app) and it will work in conjunction with the extension ? I guess it's the latter because on Web Marshall | The Web, Without the Worry is written "Coming Soon"
Also are you planning to release Helios Web Marshall extension for Firefox too ?

Indeed on Chrome Web Store I read: "This extension is required so Helios Web Marshall can effectively block malicious websites and downloads. It communicates to a C++ backend, make sure that the backend is installed before installing this extension."
So I guess that the backend is Helios Web Marshall component / separate app but currently it isn't released yet.
I admit I'm a bit lost among all the features offered by your software :)
*edited* I've just read simmerskool's post and the subsequent ones New Update - Defender Hardening Console Executable

Exactly, the upcoming Helios Web Marshall app should be released soon New Update - Defender Hardening Console Executable
From what I can see in that post's screenshots it will be a new app, separate from Defender Hardening Console.
They will be distributed together and users will have a choice what exactly they want to install.

You will not need to keep DHC open, there is a background service which is highly optimised for low memory and CPU usage, and for constant interaction with the special filter (bloom filter).

The work on the Firefox Extension is complete and it has been uploaded for validation.

And this is what’s coming as part of Helios Web Marshall.
This is solely for the shopping subset that’s been marshalled.

I may create a totally portable extension for Web Marshall, depends on a few factors.

It’s available now but the domain will change.

@Trident, T just browsed your website it looks amazing. I have no idea how your products will perform in real life, but the website looks great.

A question and a remark

QUESTION: how do HEAT scanner and HELIOS ultra quick relate to each other?

REMARK: For me it would make more sense to have a clear free and a premium product line. See picture

You have to make up your mind whether you want to be a competitor of the AVAST and BITDEFENDERs of this world or want to be positioned as companion of Microsoft Defender. That is why I added the 15 to 25 euro's range (25 euro competitor of AVAST and BITDEFENDER, 15 euro's you create your own market segment as a companion of Microsoft Defender).

Talion as an extension would be something like VT4Browser extension or Trustpilot check

Heat scanner is an old reference that hasn’t been updated for a while, HEAT (Hawk Eye Analysis/Antivirus Tool) will be the real time protection software powered by Helios Pro.

After the success with the Web Marshall background service memory usage and so on, this is a further green light for HEAT.

The scanner is in Defender Hardening Console and provides Norton Power Eraser level of depth. In the version that will come out soon, the aggressiveness of different scan levels has been tweaked.
Defender Hardening Console is the one that uses Helios UltraQuick.

Helios Web Marshall and Talon will come together as one single extension. I am working on heuristics as to when to trigger Talon and display the verdicts.

I will think about pricing when I am happy with the products stability and performance. Some of them will remain free.

For now the products will remain companions to Defender/other software.
To compete with Bitdefender and Avast, a lot more work will need to be done.

The entire Web Marshall extension serves this purpose but to provide the level of experience that I want to provide (Download Protection/Second opinion scan, user communication and so on), a C++ backend does better job. The bloom filter lookup time on logs is around 100-200 microseconds and for over 2 million domains there is no cloud call whatsoever, so it’s much better for privacy.

The tiered web which was in the original extension released months ago has been inherited, so there are several “patterns” in Trend Micro language.

Tier 1 pattern: general whitelist (11 mb)
Tier 2: highly vetted, allows the domain plus any subdomains (something.xyz.com)
Tier 3: Trusted but abused (pages.dev, vercel and so on).
Tier 4: Local cache (whatever has been looked up online already)
Tier 5: bypass cache, for when users have decided to proceed to this domain.

The background service memory usage is 14MB with all the caches loaded.

Depending on the tier, websites receive different treatment, including download protection.

Now with Talon, there is another tier, shopping websites.

Is there a separate HEAT scanner? The website says it's portable.

It’s integrated with Defender Hardening Console, but you don’t necessarily have to use the hardening features, you can just use the scan. Opt for the portable option when you hit download and for better results, execute as admin.

I don't get an option when I download. I get AIdefender.exe.

I've just seen that the blue download button on the top right of Web Marshall webpage points to h_ttps://deploy.hea-p.com/executable/AiDefender.exe I guess it should point to the download popup window with the 2 options instead h_ttps://hea-p.com/defender-hardening# otherwise it can be a bit confusing, in my opinion. Furthermore AIDefender.exe alone won't work because it needs WebView2Loader.dll too. The same with all the other tabs except for the first on the top left "Defender Hardening" (main webpage) which points to the correct link.
