Here is more information that shows F-Secure is scuttling its own developed technologies:

I just read the posts in this thread and actually, I got sad, it seems the golden time of security companies where all of them were in competition and were innovative has gone. few leaders and technology owners remained, eset Kaspersky CrowdStrike Sophos Bitdefender mcafee, etc the list is getting shorter every day. so sad. and the info about what F-Secure is doing is awesome some people here know what they are doing, good job, and thank you. the information was invaluable.

you omitted Emsisoft -- I have business AV and seems very solid and light.

There are EndpointProtectionService, EndpointProtectionService2, fshoster, fsnethoster and fsvpnsvc services that I could find.
Thank you

No WithSecure files displayed?
F-Secure and WithSecure are no longer the same companies. Completely different executive leadership and employees.

The changes in F-Secure products could be related to this. The extent to which to the two companies share resources or have agreements between them is not clear. The removal of WithSecure modules could be one of the final steps in the complete separation of the two companies. It could also be that WithSecure wants to charge X Euros for its modules, but F-Secure does not want to pay.

Whatever the case, both F-Secure and WithSecure are both on shaky financial ground. Ripe for buyout or takeover.

The most obvious reason for the switch to Avira is as discussed earlier in this thread - F-Secure moving over to the dark side (using GenDig product) or a takeover by GenDig is in-progress.

What will happen now is that F-Secure will not perform any better than Avira. So might as well drop it because Avira ain't so good. At least F-Secure had a protection capability that was better than Avira.

F-Secure products are to become Avira with a F-Secure GUI.

Uninstalled F-Secure weeks ago when the 19.9 beta was released and its down-graded capabilities were announced. Your image back then is the image that nailed the coffin lid on F-Secure, for me anyways.

F-Secure. R.I.P.

Either switch to a different consumer antivirus product or pay WithSecure for a commercial license.
Same here, switched back to ESET and humming along...

Just check gendigital website.. "Travis has been in the IT industry for over 30 years both in the USA and Europe. Prior to Avira and Gen, Travis held executive and senior sales and marketing leadership roles at AVG, F-Secure, Axent/Raptor Technologies and FTP Software. At F-Secure, he established the first Central European sales office and successfully re-built the North American sales and marketing operation, winning customers, such as; Deutsche Telekom, Kabel Deutschland (now Vodafone), Charter Communications, Frontier Communications, Cogeco, Shaw and other telcos and ISPs."

Trialing WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection and EDR. Who knows if it will last. Asked WithSecure support if they are going to transition to GenDigital owned components (e.g. Avira), but no response.

Just a FYI, when a security or other software publisher makes changes to their products, within regulated industries those using those software are required to perform a risk assessment and impact analysis. That cannot be done when vendors refuse to provide details of changes. That means the company has a choice - either do not do the risk assessment and fulfill their regulatory and contractual obligations of cyber hygiene, or else drop the product. Software publisher's that support an industry generally know what is required of their subscribers and assists them to the extent necessary that they can fulfill their regulatory obligations - because this usually means that the subscriber will not drop the product. In the case of F-Secure and WithSecure, they just are not part of the program. They don't want to support their regulated subscribers. It is more important to them to keep their product changes a secret.

Some companies administratively ban GenDigital products for a range of legitimate reasons.

Sooner or later, the U.S. Government is going to go after GenDigital for Anti-Trust behaviors. GenDigital is becoming the Standard Oil of the antivirus - internet security suite industry.

That's what I did today, bought a 4 license key. I'm in the process of uninstalling F-Secure on this device and installing ESET Essential (Internet Security). 2 down, 2 more to go (including trying it on my phone).
I also got tired of hand holding them by reporting websites that weren't analyzed by F-Secure yet, including the one below that ESET had no problem with. I reported one about 3 weeks ago to F-Secure, and never go a response back.
