Floorp v12.5.0

New Features

As part of our ongoing efforts to stabilize Floorp, we have introduced Floorp Tests (also known as Progressive Rollouts).
Going forward, whenever we introduce or improve a feature in Floorp, we will run Floorp Tests to verify its stability.

Floorp Tests selectively roll out new features or improvements to a subset of users so that we can compare and validate their effectiveness and stability. For example, among users on the same version of Floorp, Group A may have a new feature enabled while Group B keeps the existing behavior. Comparing the results lets us objectively evaluate how the change affects user experience and stability.

This process allows Floorp to deliver higher quality updates.

You can manage your participation in Floorp Tests from the Floorp Hub page about:hub#/about/updates. If you suspect that enabling a new feature is causing issues, you can opt out of the Floorp Tests and report the problem through Floorp’s official X account, GitHub, or Discord.

Please note that features introduced via Floorp Tests may be retired or promoted to the stable release at any time without prior notice.

Changed

  • The profile reset feature “Refresh Floorp” is available again.
  • Added the option “Exit Floorp when closing the last workspace tab” to control what happens when you close all tabs in a workspace.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented installing the PPA build of Floorp on Debian Linux.
  • Reduced crashes that occurred when opening a new window.
  • floorp.newtab.overrides.newtaburl is no longer applied to the new tab page.

Floorp v12.6.0

Added "Open in Other Workspace" to the context menu.

When right-clicking on a link, "Open in Other Workspace" has been added to the context menu. The container selected in Workspace settings is not applied to tabs opened from here.

Added the ability to display bookmarks at the bottom.

You can now display bookmarks at the bottom. Due to breaking changes on the Mozilla side, displaying them at the bottom is becoming more difficult year by year, so normal operation is not guaranteed.

New Features via Floorp Tests

  • The rollout rate for the Workspace archive/restore feature has been increased to 50%. This feature is scheduled to be released as a stable version in 12.7.0.
  • You can change your participation policy for Floorp Tests in Floorp Hub (about:hub#/about/updates).

Changes

  • The container selected in Workspace settings will now be applied to tabs opened from bookmarks bars, etc.
  • Fine-tuned the sensitivity of Mouse Gestures.
  • Due to changes on the Firefox side, Floorp's Split View has been corrupted and is temporarily disabled. This feature is expected to be natively implemented on the Firefox side, so it is scheduled to be available again within three weeks.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the URL bar was not displayed properly when the navigation bar display at the bottom feature was enabled in combination with vertical tabs.
  • Fixed an issue where the bookmark button in the URL bar did not work properly when the navigation bar display at the bottom feature was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where the highlighting of the selected Workspace did not persist in some situations when managing Workspaces in the Panel Sidebar.
  • Fixed an issue where Workspace icons were not displayed in the tab context menu.

Floorp v12.7.0

New Features

  • Workspace archive and restore feature has been released as a stable version.
This feature allows you to archive Workspaces that are temporarily unnecessary or have low usage frequency. Archived Workspaces are saved in the profile folder and only retain tab data included in that Workspace from the window where the archive was executed.

You can archive a Workspace by right-clicking on the Workspace itself and selecting "Archive Workspace". To restore an archived Workspace, open the panel from the Workspace toolbar button, click the folder icon, and select the archived Workspace.

In the future, we plan to add a feature to regularly save Workspaces to prevent unintended Workspace loss.
  • Improved PWA window design and appearance.
Now, the appearance of PWA windows will be displayed according to the website's instructions.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the "Install this site as an app" feature did not fully work on websites using SVG as favicon, which had been unresolved for over 2 years. This fix ensures the feature now works on all websites.
  • Fixed an issue where tabs were unintentionally added when the Workspaces feature is enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where the toolbar did not behave properly when in full-screen mode.
