Hello,

I have been testing G Data Internet Security, especially after my unpleasant experience with Emsisoft's relatively high number of FPs.
Today I connect my Royal Kludge RK61 wireless keyboard and I received this warning from G Data.

According to G Data,
This function protects your PC against malicious USB devices that pose as a keyboard. Hackers manipulate USB sticks in this way to spy on your personal data or to distribute malware.

When Windows recognises a new keyboard, you will receive a warning. You can then decide individually whether you want to allow or block the device.

Has anybody here tested a piece of malware that used this behaviour?

Now in G Data settings you can only enable or disable this protection module, but it does not show the history of warning, so I wonder if I blocked my keyboard by accident, how can I allow it? Had taken a look at G data logs and I could not find anything about the warning.

Hello,

G Data's USB Keyboard Guard is designed to alert you when an unrecognized keyboard is connected to your system. It's a security feature to prevent hardware keyloggers. If you're sure your Royal Kludge RK61 is safe, you can authorize it in the G Data software.

This is nice, this is the first time I see such a feature, I didn't G Date, but I think if it doesn't keep log file or history of blocked items, it will check every time you plug in a device, whether it is new or not.

G Data keeps logs of detected malware, signature and programme updates, and system scans, but USB Keyboard Guard is not included in the logs.

Yes I mean USB Keyboard Guard logs, if it is not existed, I think it will check every time, the only way to check is by try, but try it when you want to change the antivirus, to not blaming me if it blocked your keyboard forever. 😁

How much RAM does GDATA currently consume? and the performance? is it good for games?
I have been observing Ram consumption which ranges from 400 MB to 900 MB (I have 16 GB of Ram). As for performance, I don't feel any noticeable system slowdowns. I can't comment on Gaming as I don't game, but I believe you should look somewhere else if you game.

Thanks, do you know if GDATA has a changelog page? I never found out about his new updates. I intend to install it on my other computer, the gaming computer, I will leave Microsoft Defender

That's the changelog for the business version. Here is the link for the changelogs of consumer versions.
my bad, I am running Business (not + EDR) version on this VM. Is there a real difference in the protection offered between Home & Business at the computer/endpoint? Perhaps Business has more "stuff" in web management console? I have been pleasantly surprised by Emsi Business here in my little home office.

Does anyone know the number of GDATA customers? It seems to me like a company with few consumers, although it is a pioneer in the market and has solid protection if not the most, it seems to be a strong company only in Germany, if anyone knows anything about it, I would appreciate it

It's a shame they don't include the date of each update, there's no way to know from this page how long each program update takes, this most current version (25.5.17) from the research I did is from February of this year
