So I have a clean install of the following Win 10, Win 11, and Zorin, and I have each imaged, so I can use 10 or 11 or Zorin anytime I choose.

If I install something, and I decide I don't like it, well in 2 minutes I'm back to my clean install.

So you have a backup plan and know how to use it. That in itself is gold (y) Sorry I can't comment on K7 and Panda, having never used them.

I never got to try time machine. There used to be a really nice BU software that could restore while in Windows. It was developed by a guy who seemed too be very bright. He sold it, and the new owners, well it just fell apart. When it's your baby, and you have a passion for it, never sell it, b-cuz others will not have the passion. For them it's just a project and potential money.
Now, I just use Macrium. I've got a clean Windows 11 backup and one with all current software. It never changes so, if something should happen, just revert to that and I'm current except for windows usual pain in the rear updates.

Yep.... We are both in the same boat. I make 3 BU Images... One is a clean install of Win, then add my fav must have software, this is my second BU Image. Then I install games and security, this becomes my 3rd and last BU Image.

Thank You. Yes I have images on 3 drives, 2 of which are in my PC, 1 external (not hooked to PC). I don't like the idea of cloud BU's but that's just me.
External is the way to go for such things, although I prefer as you stated multiple copies because hardware failure happens. I only use cloud for digital legacy, I keep certain items in the cloud should something happen to me after so long of an inactive period it contacts chosen contacts via email and offers them a chance to download from it before it gets wiped in a certain time period. I'm silly like that, keeping ahead that is.

And then I use Directory Opus to synch 3 hard drives. 2 in my PC one in my desk drawer.

C: contains the installs
D: is software and Images
E is same as D:
F: is same as D and E, and is in my desk.

Right. I never used the bsckup. Did use the Comodo Time Machine and it worked beautifully and was rock solid. Then, it was gone. No more updates, no improvements to keep up with changing OS, so I had to let it go.
I have used Comodo Time Machine, Program Manager, Dragon Browser, and Verification Engine. I have been using Comodo Firewall since V2 Beta, which had a blue and white interface (if I remember correctly). I rarely visit Comodo Forums now, but I have been a member since 2006.

Yes a nice blue and white interface on V2 that I still have running on a windows 2000 desktop along side eset scanner.

Anyway the OP should do their CS(cruelsistor) homework via the videos to get the best out of setting up CFW.

Regards Eck:)

In the early and mid era of Comodo, Melih was always willing to try to create the next "Home Run" software.

It never happened.

Most people do no realize how much of Comodo software development is not done in the U.S. It is farmed out to Turkiye, India, and China. Why pay a U.S. developer $125 per hour to do it when you can pay someone in China $10 per hour?

Makes perfect sense as they are all free products. What is the advantage to pursuing perfection just to get a few people to stop complaining about how buggy and difficult Comodo software is? Why would the product owner ever do that when they make the products free for $0.

The same people that criticize Comodo would do the very same thing if they were the owner and understood that it makes no financial sense to put a lot of effort into making a free product bug-free. Nobody does that. Not even paid software. Bugs happen like s h i t happens.

Is that your unbiased opinion of containment and CS speaking of topics. ;)

I gave mine but seems it was not well received. Although it was just straight fact about the product and very much on topic.

Well, unbiased or biased that depends on the interpretation/point of view. Of course, the thread is clear written.

I didn't mention name nor persons, for me makes no sense why you feel that I might meant you 🤷‍♂️ Your posts are on topic as usual.

Instead I meant the Comodo stories here in the forum, some threads of Comodo will be closed sooner or later like that: Serious Discussion - Comodo Internet Security 2024 announced

Simple said: Person 1 opinion that Comodo is a good AV/FW. but Person 2 said the opposite, then the same "emotional" debate continues until Forum Moderators take action...

Well I certainly hope I didn't cause any trouble.

I thought my post as OP was a perfectly fine question.

I think all the answers from participants could have been a simple "yes" or "no" in fact I'm sure of it...

But others felt free to elaborate, and isn't that a wonderful thing? I mean we can think and speak freely here in the great US of A.... At least that's what we are told.

A misunderstanding, my first line was meant as a joke and why I winked. I fully understood what you were referring too. I absolutely agree as well. I just wanted to add my post were not well received as per the usual amount of users it took to come at my posts.

No trouble, just a joke lost in translation. My humor can be dry sometimes and easy to misunderstand. You did indeed ask for a unbiased "opinion" which requires a little more than yes or no answers in order to deliver. You are correct as well that everyone is entitled to their opinions.

No problems that I can see. We'll argue, threaten, sometimes name call, and next day in a different thread on some other software be friends and agree.

Comodo is a delicate subject not just here but in other places as well. I and others swear by it. Others swear AT it.

The last few days I've noticed some intense discussion about Comodo FW and it's containment features.

I have a question, about the containment / deny feature.

Putting aside the bugs, your love, or dislike for comodo, it's weak AV, whether it's a tool for novices ETC

With Cruel Sister's settings is it able to protect / secure a single PC better than anything else, when used with defender, and possible Andy's tools?

Thanks Guys, just wanted to hear your opinions.
You evoked Comodo and Webroot in a single post. God no wonder this thread has grown to 6 pages in 3 days.

I never used CS, I used Webroot. Webroot used to be a second opinion scanner when it first hit the market and in my opinion it should remain as such. It's extremely light though. Zone Alarm Extreme is Christian Bale in Batman meanwhile Webroot is Christian Bale in The Machinist.

I look at things thoroughly IMO. I chose CFW/CrSis about 4-5 years ago with Defender/AndyFul about 2 years ago and ditched Bitdefender/various firewalls. About 9 years ago I was using Comodo AV/FW with default settings on some of our workstations based on some readings a while before where our Gov't tried but couldn't circumvent it. A moron using one of the workstations (company pres) clicked on a spurious email link ("I knew I shouldn't have") and a 0-day slipped past the goalie. It was no big deal because we were only working on Secret clearance level DOD projects. Luckily he waited two months to tell me his workstion started running like crap about two months earlier. I switched to BitDefender at that time. Anyway, watch Cruel Sister's videos and draw your own conclusions. She is involved with the industry in some fashion. Using her settings creates the most protection while eliminating the annoying user input necessary at default settings. Just don't click on email links "you know you shouldn't have" and you'll be fine.
* I went back to Linux maybe 6 months ago but I haven't seen anything since then to change my mind about CFW/CrSis/Defender/AndyFul. Really respect both their efforts as well as the others on here who do all the work and produce the vids .
eh not like he worked Secret level of the project on the laptop so that should not be a problem. You can't connect a UNET laptop to SIPR it will just block you. Even if somehow by the grace of IT god it did connect to SIPR then it could never phone home.

EDIT: WOW I read the first 3 pages and all I got to say is AMAZING. Just to provide a peaceful solution to all this bickering let me just say that Star Trek is way superior to Star Wars because at least Start Trek attempts to explain and use science vs just black magic fckery. Finally, when Trump is elected then he will bring peace, and quiet, tranquility will finally descend upon the planet and world hunger along with cancer will finally be dealth with.

It all happens because there are few people on here going away, then re-registering. These people can’t stand their favourite AV software “baby” being criticised. They insist and persist that we should all love Comodo as-is.
They repeat “provide evidence, provide evidence, provide evidence”. We are supposed to provide evidence that Comodo is not amazing (which everybody knows, hence the software’s got its last 5 fanboys lurking around.).

These 5 fanboys are aware of Comodo’s value and quality. Hence, some of them are desperately looking for 5 minutes of “air time”, by uploading beyond-pointless videos how Comodo magically and non-tragically protects users by using insanely-technical, highly-sophisticated mechanisms, big names can only dream to develop — namely issuing a firewall alert/prompt

Until this “sick leg” of the forum is cut, discussions will always be long, emotional, pointless. The cycle will repeat again and again.

My goodness if they amputate one of the forums legs, it will be crippled, then all users will have to help cauterize the wound, then find a prosthetic to replace it with so the forum can resemble being whole again. That phantom limb will probably cause many mental issues, so we will need properly certified nurses to distribute meds to those members that will certainly crack.

Are you sure lopping off the leg is the best method? 🤪

Don’t waste your time asking questions. Start gathering evidence for the “court case” on MalwareTips. You are always going around unprepared and talking without evidence.

I am gonna ask you again, where is the proof? Maybe hire a lawyer as well.

From now on you will talk to me only when you are ready to deposit proof, otherwise I will sue you. I will contact Judge Judy to help me with the case.
